Hi Deon555! Remember to always check the page history before tagging for speedy deletion. Sadly, in this case, I made the same mistake as you did, and deleted the page. Regards, decltype (talk) 20:29, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Decltype, thanks for bringing that to my attention. It certainly was late last night :), I'll try to be more vigilant in the future. Thanks for not breaking my leg. — Deon555talkI'm BACK! 02:39, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Golan Cipel
I have reverted your reversal of my edit. I've looked at your edits and see that your make an enormous number of them - I am going to guess that made an edit on a subject that you are not conversant with, in this case Golan Cipel and Jim McGreevey (former Governor of New Jersey). Even a cursory review of Cipel's and McGreevey's bios make the added sentence obvious - in any event, I have added a link (I could add probably over a thousand links if I sat down to the task - the quote in that link about how they had sex was in McGreevey's autobiography "The Confession". Anyway, that's why I reversed it - and added a link this time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.152.200.175 (talk • contribs)
- Hi, Thanks for getting back to me. A few minutes ago, I also left a note on your talk page. You are right, I perform hundreds of reversions a day and sometimes you hit one that seems okay on face value, but is different if you know the story. Any BLP addition that cites someone is gay, dead, a murderer etc, should be properly sourced anyway. Also, might I recommend creating an account?. Whether you do or not, it is also polite (and easier on the reader) if you sign your posts by adding three tildes after your post like this: ~~~~. Cheers, and have a great day! — Deon555talkI'm BACK! 05:35, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

"Smooth Criminal" semi-protect
Forgive me please. I was trying to request semi-protection, and copied the edit to drop into another file. I don't know if I did it right, but it's there now. Thank you TristaBella (talk) 03:13, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
From another user
hi deon555 i am new to setting up pages on wiki and you have just edited the windthermie page due to copyright infringements. can i post the text as it is with reference to the prorotaterm website? i would appreciate any tips on this topic as i have no intention of plagiarising from prorotaterm, simply making the information on thermal wind power more accessible via wikipedia. cheers
- Wikipedia articles take time, patience and effort. Sometimes by thousands of editors, working hundreds of hours. Grabbing a company's website, Selecting all the text pressing Ctrl-C then Ctrl-V is an insult to the editors that work tirelessly. We have an article on Wind power and one on Thermal power; perhaps you can use your own knowledge (with sources) to add to those articles. Not every company needs their on Article on Wikipedia.. :) Hope this has helped clear it up a bit. Regards, — Deon555talkI'm BACK! 13:19, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Oakbrook Preparatory School reply
Thanks for the reply to my call for help. THe Oakbrook Preparatory School article you mentioned is not the article I submitted. I worked on it for a while on my user page (trying to learn how to use Wikipedia). Then I submitted it. It was deleted the same day. Regarding the issue of "Copying information directly from sites that carry the copyright symbol"...I posted the information on the privateschoolreview.com page the same as I posted it on Wikipedia. It is a directory of schools. The information that was posted is ours, not theirs. Dawnrollins (talk) 02:54, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi dude! Nice to see you back around these parts again. :) Sarah 04:10, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Old revision header
I could send you an image by email, which is explaining everything (or alternatively upload it, but that would take longer, because I never have uploaded an image to WP yet). FHessel (talk) 10:19, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Ok, but it is a bit complicated (that was the reason, I condensed it into a jpg).
Any wikipedia page is affected, but take for example this [[1]].
Now, make sure, that you have set your user prefs to Language = English and open the link.
In a second step, open a new tab, set your user prefs to Language = German and open the link again.
Now you can see the following:
1. The date/time-stamp in the German version is faulty, it shows the time instead of the date and again the time. This has to be corrected.
2. The English version shows a colored box, which acts as a clear warning, that you have an old revision here. In comparison, the German version may be mistaken as the current revision much more easily. Since updating pages (especially the flu pandemic table) is based on the review of older revisions very often, it could happen accidentially, that an old revision will be changed and all edits since then be discarded. I know, that you can revert such a change easily, but what do you do in cases, where other people have updated the page in the meantime (just look at the update frequency we have sometimes)? So I would propose a layout similiar to the English version, in order to prevent possible mistakes.
FHessel (talk) 10:44, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks a lot Deon! I had a look at your posting and I want to add, that the presumed 'she' is a 'he'. But never mind! Have a good day 2 | FHessel (talk) 11:06, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Deon! I am awarding you this barnstar for your great team efforts while improving the Marco Polo article. Hopefully we could work more often together like this. Kind regards, LouriePieterse 10:40, 15 July 2009 (UTC) |

Bot updates to WP:HOPEFUL
Re User talk:Rick Bot#Problem with your bot - I don't understand what the problem was (the bot fetches the first 30 contribs and puts the dates of these in a file, the file hasn't been touched since May and has the correct data in it), but it seems to be OK now. Your username change threw me for a minute, but it has just happened (after I re-ran the script to generate the content I just posted to WP:HOPEFUL). The update that will include your new username should happen on Wednesday around 9:00 UTC (Tuesday night US time). Please let me know if you notice any problems. -- Rick Block (talk) 18:21, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
- The latest bot edit [2] seems to be OK. It even picked up your RFAs as Deon555 which surprised me (the search for previous RFAs matches RFAs that start with your user ID but with any number of spaces and digits on the end intending to catch multiple RFAs - although arguably a bug, this serendipitously works in the case of your username change). -- Rick Block (talk) 13:35, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Spotlight - Marco Polo and sheep
Hiya. Thanks for helping out with spotlight. Your name isn't on the 'spam-list' on that page, so I haven't sent you the newsletter; but I just wanted to let you know a couple of things. Following over 500 edits from the spotlight project, Marco Polo has attained good article status. We've now started on the next article, Marco Polo sheep. Please join the IRC channel some time (quick link), or add your name to the Participants list at WP:SPOT. Cheers, --— DeontalkI'm BACK! 03:34, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

I just noticed websites banning people just at 1 instance of disruption which is caused more or less unknowingly. Is that a good practice and more than that is that legal.BalanceΩrestored Talk 03:02, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
- I can't give legal advice, nor can I comment on what other sites do. I can only advise about what Wikipedia's policies are (which is set out here). Cheers, — DeontalkI'm BACK! 03:04, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

FlagIOCteam template confusion
Re this talkpage change of yours: there must be some confusion here, as the request was to make a change to {{FlagIOCteam}}, a template that is definitely fully protected: I just now tried to edit it and failed because I got only a "view source" tab rather than an "edit" tab. Perhaps my request was not clear, and you thought I was asking you to edit Wikipedia:WikiProject Flag Template? Anyway, please have another look at the request at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Flag Template #FlagIOCteam too. Thanks. Eubulides (talk) 06:26, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- You made the request on Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Flag_Template - there is no protection on that page. If you wish to request edits to be made, they need to be made on the talk page of the same article you want to be edited. — DeontalkI'm BACK! 06:38, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- OK, thanks, I moved the request to Template talk:FlagIOCteam #Accessibility improvement for visually-impaired reader. Eubulides (talk) 06:59, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- Good move. I'll leave it for an administator as it is fully-protected. Cheers, — DeontalkI'm BACK! 07:20, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks
Thanks for helping me with the article section in my sandbox! I later figured out that it was </ref> and not <ref/>. -.- In case you're wondering, I was rewriting the section Social Security leak on the Hinsdale Central High School article. Quick question, how did you find that Sandbox? Thanks! Cya around Wikipedia! Netalarm 14:23, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- Heya Netalarm. No worries. I spend all day and all night in #wikipedia-en-help on freenode, and noticed your messages but just missed you.. so thought I'd make the edit anyway and let you know :). Looks good.. interesting stuff in there :P. Have a good one. — Deontalk 14:25, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
"Dead" golfers
I'm just adding there birth dates to the "death date and age", which is commented out. It is meant to ease use of the template when they die.Tewapack (talk) 18:32, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- Ah.. I thought it was something like that, but couldn't find reference to the extra parameters in the template documentation - maybe I'm going blind :). Have a good one. — Deontalk 00:36, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
- Looks like I'm not the only one who wasn't sure what was going on.. just noticed this and this. Thought I'd let you know :) — Deontalk 07:04, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
