Mediation note

Thank you for mediating for us and I look forward to working with you and everyone else, just giving you the heads up that I'm kind of busy and may not be available to give my views on the issue until 3-4 days time. Just thought I would give you the heads up sorry about the inconvenience --Sin Harvest (talk) 11:46, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for the note, is there anyone who you thinks best represents your opinion until you get back? -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 22:06, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

The Wikipedia Signpost: 1 March 2010

Since you posted my Article

The information I been putting on page to make it better has become a debate about what is posted and one of the Wiki folks keeps deleting my info without a review of the information posted. This is the only guy which in my opinion is harrassing me. Since you approved the article what is the problem with it now? Hieronymus keeps deleting the sources and deleting facts posted, it seem like vandalism. This is about the Choctaws that live in their tribal lands today. To talk about their customs and traditions and culture. Different Choctaw tribe do different things among their group. So what one Choctaw does does not effect what the other does. This needs to be made clear since everyone wants to know about the Choctaws. I lot of the information on the Choctaw Wikipedia was contributed by me. So I dont know why this wiki employee if he is that keeps deleting the new article creation you approved. Also I would like the deletion to be removed he posted without review before hand. So far no decision has been given to delete article when it is approved by you. How can you help clear of this mess before it gets out of hand?

67.235.129.179 (talk) 05:50, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

This could have been my mistake on accepting. Reasons why: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Choctaw Nation of Florida Maybe your edits are best at the other site. But I can't argue with consensus of the Wikipedia community. You can ask them to userfy the article for you so you can work on it. Sorry about this. -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 23:16, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm the one who tracked down the references to the article in question, and then removed them. Most of the references could have been used in a general history of the Choctaw or Culture of the Choctaw articles, but none of the references mentioned The Choctaw Nation of Florida whatsoever. Also, a few basic verifiable statements were mentioned in the article that weren't true, the most obvious being that Andrew Jackson was of partial Choctaw ancestry. He was Irish, of 2 Irish immigrant parents[1], and born in what would become the United States. So, unless he had Choctaw ancestors who had immigrated to Ireland first..... Another cite was to Urban Dictionary, for their definition of Brown people(which happens to mention the subject of the article), which was more than likely added to their site by the IP who also wrote this article. A few of the cites mention other native groups, not the Choctaw at all, and were used as evidence of this groups validity and continuity in there location in Florida. If you ok'ed this article for her, please be more careful in the future. I hate that we have to delete the article, I DO spend most of my on wiki time adding to Native American articles as does the other user User:Uyvsdi who brought it to AFD, but the only thing verifiable we can find about the group is its own website, 2 pdfs for failed lawsuits with the BIA, and an excel document on a Cherokee website listing them as fraudulent. I'm afraid any article we write with the available sources wouldn't make her group look good and its better to not have it. Sorry for the long post, Heironymous Rowe (talk) 00:02, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
I am sorry about that. I try and verify all sources, but I made a mistake that night. Please remember AGF as we have a lot of articles that do go through AFC. -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 00:08, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
I am WP:AGFing, I just ask to be a little more careful in future, not meaning to be harsh if it's coming across that way. The whole AFD thing and the IPs unwillingness to listen to policy explanations or advice have got me a little terse, lol. Its the first time I ever proded an article for deletion, or took part in the AFD when someone else brought it there. Think next time I'll just research and stub the article instead and let the Ip self destruct, like this one has. Tooooooo much dramuz involved. Sorry to intrude on your day, regards. Heironymous Rowe (talk) 00:18, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
No problem, it was my fault and thanks for coming back here and talking. I like editors who will come back. It is true that this has gone a further than it has needed to. I will watch in the future. Thanks. -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 00:22, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Irish American mediation

Hello MWOAP,

I don't really know all the details of mediation, and if my previous post was wrong, please let me know and I'll remove or move, whatever is appropriate. Thanks. Malke2010 22:39, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Note: Re'd -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 23:36, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for getting back to me. Appreciate that.Malke2010 23:34, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Hello again, I saw your posts on the mediation for the article. Do you want us to write the edit as we think it should appear and then provide our citations and post it to the talk page? Is that correct? I will do that this weekend if that is okay with you. Or do you need it sooner? I have RL things, etc. Malke2010 03:51, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Yep. That is it. Just like Eastcote. I am going to comment on it later tonight. -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 22:48, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Thank you. Looking forward to it.Malke2010 22:53, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
How are things progressing on Irish American? I ask because I'm not familiar with how these things end up as I've never participated in one. I also am not familiar with what happens to the article content regarding this dispute after the decision. Thanks, Malke2010 20:36, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

This is my first run at this, so I am trying my best to get it to work. The talkpage right now is where I am waiting for a responce from rjensen. -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 22:20, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Well hello there, sorry if i get this too direct, she is a famous new Malaysian news presenter for Buletin Utama news program and production management for Media Prima BHD and that concede her importance or significance and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. Utusan is the most sell out newspaper in Malaysia thus verifiable the reliability. Would be ashamed seeing millions of her fan unseen her encyclopedia. Honestly i would like you to help me in this matter. Will wait your feedback. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zuhdizuhdi (talkcontribs) 17:52, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Editor Review: done

I have done an editor review for you at Wikipedia:Editor review/MWOAP 2.

Perhaps you could consider doing a review of another editor? It takes a bit of time (reviews can take anywhere from about 15 minutes up to 2 hours, depending on how many contributions the editor has made, where they have contributed, etc).

The ones marked with a * are those editors who have not been reviewed yet — if you want to review one of these, make sure you remove the asterisks in the parts indicated!

If you have not done a review before, you might feel more comfortable giving a second review to an editor — this will show you an example of a review that has been done, and show you the kinds of things that can be commented on. I hope that you find the review useful. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about it.

Regards, -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 00:09, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

BOAC Flight 712 GAN

Are the neutral markers placeholders while you assess the article? Mjroots (talk) 10:45, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
I am sorry, I don't understand your question. -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 11:40, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

You're reviewing the article at Talk:BOAC Flight 712/GA1. So far all entries have a neutral symbol ( ). Are these placeholders until you do a proper review? Mjroots (talk) 12:22, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
Yes. Unless I note, that means it hasn't been evaluated. -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 20:19, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Follow-up Question on Copyright Infringement

MWOAP, thanks for helping me understand what "G12:Unambiguous Copyright Infringement" means. But now I'm unsure how to proceed. You see, in the article that was deleted I do not have sections cut-and-pasted from sources. I have only one direct quotation of more than a few words--and I've cited the sources of all quotations, direct and indirect. I will recheck my text against the sources to make sure that I haven't inadvertently repeated any lines or phrases. After that check and any further editing necessary, may I resubmit my article? 4117Ashford (talk) 20:44, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

At this point, I will contact an admin, I will get them to look at the content to see what is up with this. I will let you know. You can take a look over what you have, just don't post it yet. Could I get the article name? -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 23:40, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for being willing to look at the article. Its title is "Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges." The subject seems like simple bureaucracy, but its actions influence millions of people. I will review my article to ensure that its material isn't too close to the source. Once again, thank you for your consideration. 4117Ashford (talk) 13:56, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
I got an admin to take a look at it, there was no copyright violation, but it is quite sounding like an advertisement which falls under the criteria for speedy deletion. I had the article userfied so it will not be deleted and we can work on it. It is currently at User:MWOAP/Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges. Also, we need third party sources to complete this article. See WP:V -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 23:34, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
I appreciate all this help. Within a week I'll post a revised draft to your User Page, and I'll include sources other than the Commission's own publications. See you soon. 4117Ashford (talk) 15:02, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Clerking AIV

Hey there. Thanks for your work at AIV, but I think your time might be better spent elsewhere. Admins will still have to look over your work no matter what you do, so the work is rather redundant. NW (Talk) 01:54, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

With all due respect, I am trying to get admin experience to use towards a future WP:RFA. I don't see why I should give up. Do you have any other suggestions? -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 02:07, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Re : Siva Shankar Baba

Hi MWOAP

It was good to hear from you; hope everything's well.

Worked on modifying the references for the printed version as per your suggestion (the template you had guided me to was very helpful. Thanks for that too). Can you take a look and see if it looks good enough to move to mainspace? And also, on adding it to the categories I had referred (I think I put it on the page you had created for our discussion...)

Thanks MWOAP.

If you could please remove the redlinks, we don't need them hanging around till an article is created for them. Also, could you use the quotebox template for your quote? "{{quotebox|''quote''|''source''}} -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 02:59, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Clannad Mediation

In regard to Clannad (visual novel) I wish to undo edit [2] as we are in mediation I thought it would be bad faith on my part to make the change (without asking first) while we are in dispute. The edit itself is unsourced and would normally be ok for me to go in there and undone usually and moved to talk page for discussion. Although it may sound like I'm asking for a forced judgement on your part but feel free to say we should take a "wait and see" approach. --Sin Harvest (talk) 23:25, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for seeing if it is ok first. This is tremendous show that you are willing to work with other users. If you could indicate if it is the whole thing or just a part that would be great. I will then take it to the mediation page asap for approval. I am doing this because I can't officially step in and enforce it as this is informal mediation. So if you get me that I will note that you came to me first to request this and I will put your request up. Thanks again. -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 00:30, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
Hmmm in a regular situation I would probably make a custom edit rather then an revert since there has been so many edits since the edit. I would copy the "settings and themes" section in this version [3] (the one right before the edit) and use it to replace the current version but that is a very big change and under the current climate I don't know how well that would go down. Well that is my opinion on what should happen. --Sin Harvest (talk) 00:50, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
Sigh I wasn't sure I wanted to bring this up but may as well bring this up as soon as possible Talk:Apple#Why_is_this_the_Primary_Topic_instead_of_a_dab.3F, Talk:Mummy#Why_is_this_the_Primary_Topic_instead_of_a_dab.3F, Talk:1_(number)#Why_is_this_the_Primary_Topic_instead_of_a_dab.3F
I think it is under good-faith but it could still be interrupted as WP:Canvassing obviously I'm not neutral enough to judge that though. --Sin Harvest (talk) 00:59, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
I am sorry I don't quite get what you are saying. Could you put it in a format of what the current text is and what you would remove that would be great, and if it is big, I have a section for you to post it in my workshop (this is the link). I will take a look at how big it is when it is posted. About your second post there, yes, that stuff needs to be brought up. Our discussion needs to be centralized. I will note to contributors that they are getting into a mediation case here, and I will try to centralize it. Thank you. -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 01:17, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

This accusation is baseless/unfounded, one of many made by Sin Harvest. ₪— CelticWonder (T·C) " 19:18, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
You could have notified me of that, and I would have taken care of it. Remember not to blank or scratch out others' comments as it is against policy. -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 19:36, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
True, but I just noticed, so I believed I took an appropriate course of action (esp. considering your posts weren't user opinion, rather notifications). I didn't have your talk page on my watch-list, so I didn't see Sin Harvest's private discussion with you until today. ₪— CelticWonder (T·C) " 19:43, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

Hello again

Hello again, MWOAP. If you recall, I adopted you a while ago, but we have not interacted for several months. I have been a bit occupied in the intervening time both in real life as well as on-wiki. I have, however, been keeping an eye on your contributions, and it looks like you are doing very well. You seem to edit a lot in the scope of AfC, where I am marginally active. This area always needs users willing to make an effort, as IP addresses often have good ideas for articles, but their submissions not always well referenced or conforming to guidelines. Work you have done here, for example, shows that you can see submissions with potential. I see you've taken on an admin coach. I would suggest editing a bit more in the mainspace—that is, after all, what we are here for, and will undoubtedly be beneficial should you decide to run an RfA in the future. Your CSD tag here is a bit concerning, though it was a few days ago. It is very easy to mark a page looking as it did at the time for A7 (group) deletion—it shows the necessity of doing a Google search for borderline cases. Otherwise, it seems you have been involved in a variety of areas and have shown a high level of clue. Keep up the good work! Cheers, Intelligentsium 02:12, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for stopping by. I absolutely forgot about the adoption thing. I think I am pretty good set, I will give you a buzz if I need some advice or help. You are not the only one to comment on my article edits, and I agree I do need to increase them as actual content writing. With the CSD, ya, that was a mess up on my part. If you are interested, I now have my My page contribs and User:MWOAP/adminrelcontribs pages which I update accordingly. I am also finishing some redesign on my userpages, and I have been caught up a bit in IRL. Again thanks for the help you have provided and happy editing to you! -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 20:41, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
