editHi - can you tell me what your username refers to? I'm asking with regards to our username policy. Thanks Girth Summit (blether) 16:05, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
- I have been using this as an both an email address and user name on many sites for over 20 years, I am a kitchen and bath designer. I just read over the user policy - I don't believe I violated the username policy. If you feel otherwise I would be more than happy to proceed through the steps as listed in the policy. editYour account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:
- Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
- State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
- Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.
- Girth Summit, I was wondering the same thing--if you look at their Commons contributions, you'll note that they have the company name on the info page--these are pictures of machines made by Aquarius Systems, and the edit you reverted makes the point clear enough for me, without even bothering with the user name. Ddesigns, you will have to read the rules and promise to follow them if you wish to play on this website. Follow the links in the block template; they COI page will tell you what to do. - Is your question in regards to the user? I don't believe it was. I write a newsletter, blog and perform some social media for Aquarius Systems.
- Yes, the images are Aquarius Systems machines, they own the photos that I submitted. I used Aquarius Systems as the author on the images as they are the ones giving the authorization to "share, remix, attribute & share." The edit you referred to I looked at carefully before editing, the ACOE has been working on the debris problem very early on, Aquarius Systems was also an early developer of the mobile vessels, Mr. Trash Wheel is actually the first instance of a stationary cleanup option and The Ocean Cleanup is a relatively new solution that is a mix between both mobile and stationary devices.
- I will go through proper channels to unblock my account. Ddesigns73 (talk) 16:49, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
- I just realize that I didn't respond to your statement to me. I will read the rules and WILL follow them. I did not read the rules prior to making changes, but rather followed the lead from other photos and pages that I was reviewing. Again, I didn't feel as though I was "advertising or promoting" the business. Yes, I did use the business name, but I felt it was a reasonable use and not gratuitous. - I am not certain what content was in violation of the copyright policy. I do believe I created a link to the source of the information, I did read the copyright policy and thought that was acceptable.\ Ddesigns73 (talk) 13:17, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
