English name of CDEFI
editHi. For information, the english name of Conférence des Directeurs des Écoles Françaises d'Ingénieurs is Conference of the Directors of French Engineering Schools. Best Regards. 80.13.85.217 (talk) 23:51, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- I've created a redirect from the English title equivalent. Dcshank, I don't understand how WP:UE applies here, since it's the name of an organization and not a term that can be translated (and I can't find any sources using the English version). Also, how is a possibly bad title justification for deletion? — The Earwig (talk) 00:00, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
- As for deletion, as far as I can see, it has zero notability in the English Wiki, from citations or otherwise. I'm also worried about slippery slopes. Does this qualify: 教育部全球資訊網 It is the proper name of a Taiwanese government organization that can not be exactly translated. I have the keyboard interface for Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean, but not French, so am I allowed to use those?
- :- ) Don 00:18, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
- I understand your argument, but this title is made of characters almost entirely in the English alphabet (or completely, if you use the redirect without diacritics Conference des Directeurs des Ecoles Francaises d'Ingenieurs). A relevant example shown in WP:UE is Coup d'état – the article title has the non-English é character in it, but you can still reach it from Coup d'etat. As for notability, I haven't looked into that yet, so no comment there. — The Earwig (talk) 00:49, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
- I'm in 100% agreement with commonly accepted foreign phrases and words, but I have not used des, Directeurs, Ecoles, Francaises, nor d'Ingenieurs recently in a sentence. Nor am I or anyone I know, remotely interested in what certificates France offers, used to offer, might offer, or even if they exist. If I or they were, we would be reading the French Wiki not the English Wiki. If it was Spanish, I might be interested. I will leave my personal feeling about France and French out of argument, they do make good wine, and they surrender well. :- ) Don 04:11, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
- Hi. I don't understand why you are proposing for deletion this article. There are a lot of French title in Education on English Wikipedia, which is perfectly normal because it is their official name. See for example category:grandes écoles. 80.13.85.217 (talk) 09:12, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

- I know how, but: I was waiting for BarkingFish to change its tune before advocating for a speedy keep; it's only been 25 hours; and I'm involved. — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 02:54, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

Some thoughts about the English and French Wikipedias and engineering in France
editI call them the English-language Wikipedia and the French-language Wikipedia as a reminder that they are not the United States Wikipedia or France's Wikipedia. There is a great deal of information in each Wikipedia (and, for that matter, in a printed encyclopedia) that is valuable but perhaps not of much interest to some readers. Topics related to engineering in France are a good example of that. Eastmain (talk • contribs) 06:52, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
persondata
editPlease don't add persondata that just consists of: {{persondata}}. This does nothing. Either fill in the information or leave it out. The template was never intended to be used that way. Bgwhite (talk) 16:45, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, the reviewer instructions just said 'add template'. They said nothing about filling it out. I have fixed the instructions. :- ) Don 16:57, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- No problem. Nobody can keep remember every little rule around here, especially when the rules keep changing. Bgwhite (talk) 17:04, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

My article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silu_(song) has been nominated for PROD. The reason I put it online was the severe backlog at AfC and the article was well referenced. Also, everytime I submit and article to AfC, I get a message saying "because you are a logged-in user, you can create articles yourself, and don't have to post a request". I have created more than 40 articles so far. I hope you will reconsider the nomination for PROD. Rgd. Karrattul (talk) 10:27, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
You article has NOT been nominated for PROD, if it were, there would be a large banner on the main page. I thought the article was good. We are so very backlogged, many people are moving articles themselves. I just want to warn everyone that articles which bybass AfC are more likely to be CSD'd or PROD'd. I did not mean to frighten you, as your article should have no problem surviving. Thanks for your nice work. :- ) Don 13:59, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks!!Karrattul (talk) 05:19, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for moving Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Lala Hanumant Sahai back to AfC space and generally sorting out the mess. I really was not sure what to do in this situation and had made enquiries of The Blade of the Northern Lights. I suspect that it may never see the light of day because the creator has more than used up their rope. But time will tell. - Sitush (talk) 18:38, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, It got messed up somehow. Hopefully sorted out enough to do something with now. :- ) Don 18:40, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
