Statistics Education

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Article title, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Article title.

I did not propose deletion of the article; I'm simply notifying you that someone did. Fg2 (talk) 01:25, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

statistics education Thank you for notifying me about the deletion of my proposed entry statistics education. I strongly believe that it should not be deleted since it is a well-established discipline and and educatioanl/research international comminity, similar to the mathematics education entry and community. I am new to editing in Wikipedia, but in the coming days we shall make an effort to edit the item. Please help me in preserving this important entry. Hi again, Dani.

I've removed the deletion proposal from the article Statistics education, and when I did, my edit summary was "Removed deletion proposal, which asserted that this is an essay. To deal with essays, rewrite them as encyclopedia articles; don't delete them." As a previous editor noted, the article does sound like an essay, rather than an encyclopedia article, so some editing will be desirable. However, I don't see any compelling reason to delete it. Instead, looking at various guidance pages such as Wikipedia:No original research#Synthesis of published material serving to advance a position and Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Usage, do some rewriting to present facts as they are supported by the external articles you reference. Focus on facts and avoid drawing conclusions from them. Remove phrases like "No one will debate the fact that" and let the facts speak for themselves. I don't envision difficulty keeping the article.

Sometimes, a debate about deletion identifies a different Wikimedia project as the best place for an article. For example, someone might suggest that an article belongs on Wiktionary, in Wikisource, or in Wikibooks instead of Wikipedia. If that happens, don't despair. A link from an appropriate Wikipedia article makes it just as easy for readers to find as a link from another Wikipedia article does.

Despite the possibility of moving or deleting it, I believe this article will remain on Wikipedia. Thank you for your contribution.

Best regards, Fg2 (talk) 05:44, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia has an orderly procedure for submitting permissions for copyrighted material. If you hold the copyright to this article or can get permission for Wikipedia to use it, you'll find Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission useful. The section Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission#When permission is confirmed may be especially pertinent. Fg2 (talk) 01:11, 9 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

The article was deleted. If you click the red link to the article you will see "12:41, December 9, 2007 Haemo (Talk | contribs) deleted "Statistics education" ‎ (Speedy deleted per (CSD G12), was a blatant copyright infringement.)" This tells you the reason it was deleted. So, if you decide to create the article again, or if you decide to request that the article be undeleted (e.g. by going through Wikipedia:Deletion review), you'll find it crucial to provide the necessary permission or to rewrite it in such a way that copyright infringement cannot be raised as a concern. Please note that the actual deletion had nothing to do with the quality of the article or its suitability for an encyclopedia (the editors who raised those issues may still want to discuss them); it was based Wikipedia not having permission to post this copyrighted material. The article The International Research Forums on Statistical Reasoning, Thinking, and Literacy has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability and more reads like an advertisement.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The International Research Forums on Statistical Reasoning, Thinking, and Literacy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Eduemoni↑talk↓ 02:34, 5 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
