Thank you.

A tag has been placed on James W. Sewall requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. AlexHOUSE (talk) 00:38, 4 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Speedy deletion nomination of Joseph Sewall

A tag has been placed on Joseph Sewall requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

I have fixed a couple of wikilinks you have added to Joseph Sewall. The proper way to do it is to just add square brackets around the name of the article. In the edit window it should look like this, Joseph Sewall. This will look like Joseph Sewall. Hope this helps. ~~ GB fan ~~ talk 13:50, 4 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Just a couple of points on your recent edits to Joseph Sewall. The guidelines on extrnal links at WP:EL do not favour adding external links within the body of the article, so I have moved the external link on the Merchant Marine Commission to a new external links section. Also, when linking to other articles on Wikipedia, there is no need to use the full URL (the http://en.wikipedia.org bit). Just put the article title within double square brackets, so that Joseph Sewall renders as Joseph Sewall. If you want the link to display with different text, you "pipe" the link, so President Obama renders as President Obama. Take a look at WP:LINK for more. Hope this helps. – ukexpat (talk) 16:12, 9 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
