Sydney Harbour Bridge photo edit

Nice work! I vote it goes onto the article - replace the "no commercial use" RTA photo with it.

Garrie 02:37, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I am replacing the "no commercial use" photo with your own photo, as you have mentioned it on the talk page and not requested it not be used.Garrie 21:59, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Darren, Nice image. Don't know if you know it, but this picture has been used on the front cover of the Australian Coin and Banknote Magazine...

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for it! (PS I Have a higher res version if anyone wants to use it)Actuarial disco boy 18:30, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

2/18th Australian Infantry Battalion edit

Personally I wouldn't be claiming that article until it was more than a collection of links and templates. Could you at least put some of the CO's on there or information about what theatres it was involved in (not just links)? Garrie 02:37, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks GarrieIrons for the support with the photo. I agree the 2/18th needs more work Cheers actuarial disco boy Actuarial disco boy 10:37, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

2/6th Australian Cavalry Commando Regiment edit

Nice article. One minor point of interest to an ex bucket head. They were raised as an armoured regiment. What vehicle were they intended to be equipped with when they were raised? Were they ever trained in an armoured role, and did they deploy with any vehicles? Good mention of the horses and captured tanks BTW. Overall, good work! Garrie 00:26, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Garrie, An interesting question, I'm not quite sure I know the answer...... see the attached link to for an initial answer Anzac Steel - more research to come. Cheers Actuarial disco boy 09:56, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Questions for an Aussie actuary edit

IPP was my first Wiki page entry, I thought it interesting that you found and updated the page so quickly, and all the way from Australia. You must have some Canadian connection? I'm from NZ originally, since i have been away the NZ govt. has implemented the Kiwi Saver Plan, are you familiar with this Plan and if so will you create a Wiki? What is the job market like for Actuaries in Australia? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by FellowActuary (talkcontribs).

Hi FellowActuary

Welcome to the Wikipedia!

My speedy find of the IPP is a bit of a coincidence.....I was "watching" some of the social security and pension pages as I am writing a paper on the topic for the upcoming IAAust convention (to be held in Christchurch). I noticed that a link was added to your IPP page.

KiwiSaver is quite a substantial change - and someone has already put together a page!

The actuarial job market is pretty good in Australia at the moment...including superannuation!

Hows things for actuaries in Canada?

I can't even find a Wiki article on Malcolm Lees or Vic Davies, so a show hosted by them well cannot be considered notable. Phgao 10:44, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Invitation edit

There is a backstage pass coming up to be followed by an editathon in the State Library of New South Wales on 23 November. This is the first time that an Australian cultural institution has opened its doors to us in this way and will be a special opportunity because the Library is providing: one of its best rooms; its expert curators (along with their expertise and their white gloves); a newly launched website (containing new resources); and of course, items from its collection (including rare and usually unavailable material) which we can look at, learn from, and use, to improve WP articles. For example, on the chosen topic (Australia and WWI), the Library holds many diaries and manuscripts from the period.

As you can see from the Library's project page, they have connected this editathon with their own work. They have already set out a wide range of resources to make things easier for us. Please sign up on the editathon project page if you can participate either online or in person with other Wikipedians. Hope to see you there!
