Hi, I saw that you uploaded several screengrabs of Bob Ross episodes to Commons and marked them as your own work. The issue, however, is that the videos were never released into the public domain or under a Creative Commons license. What this means is that even if you were to take a screen capture, the resulting image would still be considered a copyright issue since the video was never released under a license that would allow people to freely make derivative work or use them for commercial purposes. The reason this is an issue is because in order to be uploaded to the Commons the original video would need to be released under a license that would permit these things.

With images, always check for the copyright to see if it was released under a form of copyright that would be compatible with Wikimedia Commons - if the image lacked this information, always assume that the image cannot be uploaded due to a restrictive copyright. I would like for you to review the training module on uploading images and media.

Unfortunately what this means is that the images will need to be removed from Commons. I'll go ahead and get that started for you. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 16:51, 31 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
