Help~

edit

Hello DD from what I read from your user page I knew you're an expert in political geography. I'd like to know if you'd be interested to help mediate the months-long disagreement between user:Huaiwei and I around the status of Hong Kong and Macao, at talk pages like talk:lists of office holders, talk:telephone numbering plan, talk:list of airports in the PRC, talk:list of companies in the PRC, talk:economy of the PRC, talk:list of dependent territories, Universitas 21, etc.? — Instantnood 08:19, September 8, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the above messages and sorry for my belated reply. The flag image of the then Image:Cx flag.gif file actually came from the Flags of the World (FOTW) website (http://www.fotw.net). As I found that the same image has already been in existence in other image pages, I agree that the Image:Cx flag.gif file be deleted from the database. (DD Ting 20 April 2006, 07:46 (UTC)

Some examples of the use of Czechia

edit

All but one examples are silly, please remove them (the only relavant text by Horova is already there). Let me ask you a question. What is a single word name of Hong Kong? ... is there none? ... then why must be there a single word name for the Czech Republic? Cepek 09:37, 30 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Um!rbhj.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Um!rbhj.gif. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 09:09, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Reverting

edit

Any time you revert something, you are responsible for re-adding all the things since the revert that are not "revertworthy". I don't know why you made that big revert at all, but whatever the reason is, you have many things to account for aside from it (such as my corrections to the footnotes style putting punctuation before the footnote, not after.  OZLAWYER  talk  14:48, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Melilla.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Melilla.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:05, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Sinuiju.png

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Sinuiju.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:41, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
