User talk:Cyde/Don't be a fucking douchebag

  • Seems kinda offensive O.O
I see where you're coming from, but I found final insult, within the context, to be more humorously ironic than truly hypocritical. -- Satori Son 21:24, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
WP:DICK was also supposed to be humorously ironic, but to make a serious point. Obviously, that does not work in a wiki (or we wouldn't be on this page). Zocky | picture popups 10:43, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • As a douchebag, I feel this essay to be very discriminatory. 16:30, 1 July 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.144.51.16 (talk)

"This is a better version."

In what way? 1ne 16:52, 10 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Because it's what I want it to be, and this is my userspace? --Cyde Weys 18:22, 10 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Exactly. Perhaps 1ne would like to mind the P in NPA. Chris cheese whine 20:47, 10 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Excuse me? Perhaps you'd like to mind it. I'm not making a personal attack by questioning the civility of an essay; a user space is not an unrestricted free speech zone, Cyde. 1ne 04:58, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm not accusing you of making personal attacks, I'm questioning your reasoning for redirecting the page. Chris cheese whine 03:03, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's incivil. 1ne 03:40, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
... and? Chris cheese whine 04:46, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
... and WP:CIVIL is policy. 1ne 04:51, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Now I begin to see the problem. What we have here is a rather nasty case of sarchasm. Chris cheese whine 05:37, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
So telling people that they 'just don't get the humor' is a blank check to do anything you want, I take it? 1ne 06:23, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
It must be, since it appears that not getting the humour is evidently also a blank check to do whatever you want. Chris cheese whine 07:35, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Community policies, including Wikipedia:No personal attacks, apply to your user space just as they do elsewhere -directly from WP:USER. Even don't be a douchebag would be fine imo, adding "fucking" crosses the line.--Wizardman 05:21, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Personal attacks are when you're actually making an attack against a person. This page isn't attacking any particular person, thus it's not a personal attack. --Cyde Weys 04:49, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Exactly. It is a personal attack to tell someone, "You are an asshole." It is not a personal attack to post an essay in your userspace saying, "People shouldn't act like assholes." I don't see how the use of profanity somehow makes it a violation of WP:NPA. -- Satori Son 14:31, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Precisely, this is exactly what I meant by minding the P. Before you start running around claiming someone is engaging in personal attacks, actually make sure that there is a specific person or group of people that are actually being targeted. Chris cheese whine 22:48, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

User:EVula/opining/Don't be a freaking jerkface

There's the family-friendly version of this essay. EVula // talk // // 06:31, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Haha, I like it. Next time they try to delete this, just point them at "Don't be a freaking jerkface" and suggest that they aren't ready to handle the adult version. --Cyde Weys 02:29, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm offended

Please rename this essay to something less offensive, like Wikipedia:Please don't be a big meanie. Anybody that uses the "F-word" is immediately insensitive and unintelligent.--WaltCip 16:26, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

As is anyone who calls someone a dick. That's kind of the point of this essay - it's ironic.
But for a less offensive version, please see "Don't be a freaking jerkface". -- Satori Son 16:34, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
