Nomination of Victor C. X. Wang for deletion

edit

A discussion has begun about whether the article Victor C. X. Wang, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Victor C. X. Wang until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Chick Bowen 00:04, 7 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's not your article

edit

I AM VERY Disappointed that someone removed my article without my permission!! let's cut this one off at the pass - as soon as you hit 'save page', you are irrevocably agreing to release your contributions under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL. Basically that means the article belongs to the wikipedia community and anyone can edit it at any time and nobody needs your permission in any way, shape or form - you can't 'own' (and you might want to read WP:OWN) any article. If you want to control content, I suggest you set up your own blog. --Cameron Scott (talk) 15:41, 7 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Also, please do have a look at the deletion discussion. If you don't want the article deleted, have a look at what people are saying, and work toward correcting the defects. In this case, WP:N and WP:PROF set standards for notability. Currently, the article about you doesn't meet those standards. While you seem to have an impressive list of publications, those don't make you "notable" for an encyclopedia; articles about you written by other people, published in reliable sources, would make you notable. If you have references to reviews of your work, people calling your work notable, etc., please post them to the talk page of your article, so other editors can use them to save the article. Under Wikipedia's rules, people are discouraged from writing their own biographies; see WP:BLP for more information on Biographies of Living Persons. However, the subject of a BLP is welcome to contribute to the discussion of their article on the talk page in a constructive manner. Suggesting sources is an excellent way to see the article about you grow and prosper. Adding irate comments to the article and deleting tags that clearly state that they aren't to be deleted without authorization, on the other hand, can lead to blocks and bans, and I'm sure that's not your intention. // ⌘macwhiz (talk) 16:03, 7 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to remove Articles for deletion notices or comments from articles and Articles for deletion pages, as you did at Victor C. X. Wang, you may be blocked from editing. // ⌘macwhiz (talk) 17:34, 7 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring, as you did at Victor C. X. Wang. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

The complete report of this case is at WP:AN3#User:Cxw888 reported by User:Macwhiz (Result: 24h). EdJohnston (talk) 18:51, 7 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please explain why you should not be indefinitely blocked

edit

On October 10, you resumed your combative editing of Victor C. X. Wang. It is reasonable to assume you have a conflict of interest in editing this article. You've been warned many times, and you have previously been blocked for edit warring on this article. Nothing seems to get through. Please try to explain here why you should not be indefinitely blocked from editing Wikipedia. EdJohnston (talk) 18:09, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ed, I don't think the user reads this page; I wonder if he's even aware it exists. The pattern of tendentious edits continues. I suspect that unless the user is indef blocked, the edit warring will continue until the page is deleted and salted. Sad, because it looks like he's just on the cusp of meeting WP:PROF, and if he were patient, he might qualify for an article about himself in a year or so. // ⌘macwhiz (talk) 03:43, 11 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Victor C. X. Wang

edit

A tag has been placed on Victor C. X. Wang requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ttonyb (talk) 03:29, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Repost of Victor C. X. Wang

edit

A tag has been placed on Victor C. X. Wang requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, place the template {{hang on}} underneath the other template on the article and put a note on the page's discussion page saying why this article should stay. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of continuing to recreate the page. Thank you. ⌘macwhiz (talk) 03:34, 14 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
