Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

I only backed out your edit because the "right side of the older wiki link" and its square-brackets were left showing up as real text to the reader, thus it looked like a "bad edit" to me. My comment was meant to mean that it was an editing mistake. I didn't know what you were trying to do with your edit, so I just backed it out so that readers wouldn't see the right side of the older wiki link. Hi Cuprum17. As per your request on my talk page, I've taken a quick look at your draft article. I think the article is coming along quite well. I don't have any content knowledge, though, so can't really comment in that regard but at a quick glance I think you are heading in the right direction. Unfortunately I don't have much time this morning as I have to get to the gym, so I only had a quick look. I have the following suggestions and comments:
I suggest changing the colour of the bright yellow entries in the table to something lighter as currently they stand out a bit too much. Is there a lighter yellow that might be used?
- Done. Changed from hue #FFFF00 to hue #FCF75E
"Cape class boats" and "Point class cutters" - per the standard at Milhist ACR these days, these terms should be hyphenated. Thus, "Cape-class boats" and "Point-class cutters";
- Done. Inserted dashes in instances where "class" is used
- hyphens in date ranges should be endashes per WP:DASH;
- if you want to check for typos, one suggestion I have is to copy paste the article into Microsoft Word (or a similar word processor). This will quickly identify some of the more common errors like repeated words and some grammatical issues;
"82 foot Point Class cutters" and "95 foot Cape class cutter" these are adjectives so they should be hyphenated, e.g. "82-foot Point-class cutters", etc.

- watch the use of "it's" - this is actually a contraction, but currently it is being used to denote possession. Where it is being used to denote possession, it should just be "its" (with no apostrophe);
- paired commas should be used in these circumstances: "Coast Guard Training Center Alameda, California" (a comma should come after "California");
- there is a repeated word here: "operational control of the the";
- sorry for the short review. When you are finished, I suggest adding it for a peer review as you might attract some reviewers with content knowledge.

"Coast Guard" v "coast guard"
I have to admit, it looks a little odd to not capitalize "Coast Guard" in every instance at United States Coast Guard Yard. But I tried to reason it out. We capitalize "United States Army" or "Royal Air Force," but not "the army," nor "our air force." Obviously the same rule must apply. Still, I admit that it felt odd doing it, and if you can cite some sort of exemption (one that perhaps also covers "the marine corps," which also bothers me) I would welcome the broadening of my education. - Well, I admit I may be fighting a rear-guard action on this. Further, I admit that the majority usage is against me. But gosh darn it the rules are what they are. Further look at all the other capitalization problems with "Regiment" (for example) being capitalized in every use. That is just wrong. Further, the pages are simply inconsistent. Sometimes "Marine" is capitalized and sometimes not. I think we can agree it ought to be one way or the other. If a style guide (like the NYT or the AP) or any other reference could give me a rule I could apply I would consider it. But, we have a rule, and I suppose we ought to use it. - Yes, I see and appreciate your points. As I said, even I feel a bit uncomfortable with my position. (It is right, but feels awkward.) Besides, it is not like there are not a lot of other errors out there. (I mentioned capitalization of 'regiment,' but also of 'marine,' 'soldier' and so on.) The solution over on the French Foreign Legion page, spelling out French Foreign Legion each and every time, looks bad too. Let me sleep on it. Let me review what the Wikipedia style book says. (Thank you for the link.) There ought to be some sort of bright clear line, an easy rule to apply for consistency. Or perhaps I ought to go into town and get a life. - I have asked Acroterion for a ruling. He is a level-headed fellow and often talks me down from my occasional foolishness. We shall see what he says on this. On the other hand, I ought to visit the link above and learn how that community works. As for myself, I am a retired infantry officer who fell into the expat thing sort of by accident. Seeking Help?
Thank you for correcting the display of certain SPARS content. I was the last one on the site before the problem.
My reason for imposing on you now is to seek your help in clearing up a few of my awkward miscues. Here’s the skinny. I’ve worked on three sites: Cadet Nurse Corps, SPARS, and Reed and Stem. I believe the work I did is credible. But at the same time, some of my edit summary notations are not. In any case, the following items are begging for change:
1. SPARS: December 17th entry - the word grammar is misspelled.
2. Reed and Stem: November 2nd entry - the word punctuation is misspelled. In the same entry I made the following statement: My lack of Wikipedia skills prevented me from editing the text under each photo. Help! I have since learned how, but I would like to see the statement deleted.
3.Reed and Stem: December 14th entry – shows my former username instead of the current one.
Can you help?
