About the Gandalf pictures...

While I don't exactly agree that the Jackson films were "wonderful", I've compromised. I put the older McKellen picture in the infobox, and yours down below. The shape of yours fits in better with the other screenshots there. The Frodo article has a more neutral presentation of images, with no adaptation given precedence. I'm an unofficial supporter of Wikiproject Middle-earth, and at least some members there share my sentiments about the dominance of the film pictures. Uthanc 03:22, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your compromised. I meant nothing of it in a superior manner like I knew the best picture. From a personal standpoint I think Peter Jackson's movies are superb, but from a neutral standpoint it only made sense that Peter Jackson's movie would be the opening picture to ensure flow with other Lord Of The Rings related articles. And while it may seem like monopolization I think the majority of people recognize Peter Jackson's film and identify with it, therefore it makes sense to exploit that as an article writer. I've responded to you on the M. Night Shyamalan about Wikipedia policy, which it's important to read up on. I'm writing a bit more privately here to say that an editor cannot just erase another editor's cited factual material without discussion -- such as the name of the school he attended and the town it was in! I must say it's very frustrating working with someone who does't really seem to have read Wikipedia's policy and guideliens. Image copyright problems

Dear Cormacalian,

From your presentation it seems that you think copyright in pictures is a bit silly. However, unless you follow the Wikipedia rules, you will find questionable pictures removed and risk eventually being barred from participating in Wikipedia.

The last few days you have uploaded a number of pictures, giving them false or insufficient copyright tags. Regarding Image:Deanmeltdown.jpg and the duplicate Image:Howarddeanscream.jpg you claim that you are the creator, claimin that it's "self-made... edited from original...". However, you link us to the original at Esoterically.net, which shows an identical picture, except that your version is cut a bit higher. Copyright in pictures is absolute, and cropping them differently doesn't change that. In fact, it may be a breach of copyright even to make a drawing of a photograph. So, unless you can prove that you are the photographer, these two uploads must be removed.

All the pictures you have uploaded relating to the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict are copyrighted, and unless you can prove that the copyright owner has released all rights to them, which you claim, they will also be removed. Such a proof must include information about the copyright owner and a link to the owners written release. This includes Image:2006lebanonrubble.jpg, Image:1948war.jpg, Image:ArbouroftheUN.jpg, and Image:Hassan Nasrallah.jpg. Likewise, you have added the same claim to Image:Lisebergstornet.jpg and claim that Image:Horenstein.gif is PD without backing that claim up in any way.

Please read and follow the Wikipedia rules for image use policy and image copyright tags.

If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at [[Talk:Jenny Was a Friend of Mine]]. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Speedy deletion of Argument from Time and Contingency
