Diabloceratops edit

Hello, Conty;

Because Diabloceratops is not yet published, but seems to be on the cusp of publication, I have redirected the article to Ceratopsidae. In some cases, publication can be jeopardized by leaks, while in others, leaks may permit unscrupulous researchers to get enough information to rush through their own publications and take credit for the work of others. It is even possible that if an early unofficial description is detailed enough, it could technically become the actual publication, again taking credit from the actual workers.

Since all I did was redirect the article, it can be brought back as soon as Diabloceratops is published, or at least becomes widely-enough discussed that we aren't in danger of any of the above consequences happening. Thank you! J. Spencer (talk) 23:22, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tyrannosaurus shoulders edit

Hello, Conty;

I really like your new diagram File:Tyrannosaurus_specimens_arm_diagram_01.JPG; there is one tweak I would make. The scapula should take up some of the "circle" of the coracoid, even in front view (see for example here for side view). Instead of O— (O=coracoid —=scapula), it would be CI— (C=coracoid I—=scapula). Thanks, and keep up the good work! J. Spencer (talk) 02:07, 3 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dinosaur image review edit

Hi, please consider posting your dinosaur images here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Dinosaurs/Image_review before you add them to articles. That way they won't be removed. FunkMonk (talk) 17:02, 25 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Tarbosaurus edit

Hi Conty,

Can you re-upload your image of File:Tyrannosaurid IVPP V4878.JPG with a couple of small grammatical changes? On the left-hand side, can you change the text to say "White parts of the skull are missing"? And on the right-hand side, can you capitalize the word Shanshanosaurus? Tarbosaurus is a Featured Article; the illustrations, I feel, must be correctly spelled. I appreciate your efforts. Thank you. Firsfron of Ronchester 13:12, 29 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Avimimus edit

Hi Conty! Good catch, actually i'm not sure why I restored the pedal digits so long, I wonder if I was going by an older skeletal or something lacking feet! I'll try to modify it in the future. As for the skull shape, since only the posterior skull and the tip on one specimens upper jaw is known, the shape of the skull is pretty much unknown at this point, at least until the bonebed specimens are described... Speedy deletion nomination of Meteor Studios edit

A tag has been placed on Meteor Studios requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. serioushat 10:47, 12 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Quality loss in images edit

Hi, when you edit an image and upload it over another, how do you do it? Because I have noticed tht a significant qulity loss occurs, see for example the Sinosauropteryx holotype photo[1], which went from 2.37 MB to 740 KB after you edited. Next time, be sure that the file size doesn't drop that far, otherwise we'll have many images with degraded quality. FunkMonk (talk) 08:49, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Male pregnancy edit

Hello, Conty. I'm not sure what you meant by this edit, since, even with the first source being attributed to a dead link, it was clear from the two other sources that he was talking about ectopic implantation of the embryo along the abdominal wall. I reverted you on this, but fixed the dead link into a working link and specified what he meant. Flyer22 (talk) 03:45, 26 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Pakicetus edit

Hi - have you read Thewissen et al (2009)? It seems he might have changed his mind re: whether Pakicetus was aquatic (or at least Pakicetids):

However, the details of the pakicetid skeleton tell a different story; this was not an ordinary land predator. The skulls show that the orbits (the sockets of the eyes) of these cetaceans were located close together on top of the skull, as is common in aquatic animals that live in water but look at emerged objects. Just like Indohyus, limb bones of pakicetids are osteosclerotic (Madar 2007), also suggestive of aquatic habitat, an interpretation consistent with stable isotope evidence.

Have we seen the last of Hands on Hips? edit

I noticed you've been changing some of the "humans with dinosaurs" pics to replace the woman who had her hands on her hips with one in a more neutral position. Are you planning to do this to all of them in due time? I ask because I've been using one of them as a userpage pic for a while now and am going to be relatively inactive on all wikis for the next few months so if the image is going to change I'll either remove it from my page or replace it with something else. I've also got similar pictures on other userpages of mine such as User:Soap and commons:User:Soap, but those in particular were uploaded by others.

I suppose now's a good time to ask if you're OK with me using dinosaur images like that in the first place. I know technically the images are free for all to use, but seeing as I voted to delete a page that consisted entirely of recaptioned images of Wikipetan I wouldnt want to be a hypocrite.

A list of my userpages that have dinosaur pictures on them is at User:Soap/Notes. Though most of them are jokes, I do feel they serve a purpose in directing people to my enwiki talk page by pointing out that all those other pages are for inactive accounts of mine.

By the way there's also a T-shirt using this motif: http://www.snorgtees.com/why-are-you-waving-run

In any case, thank you for all the work you've been doing. I wish I had enough time to do as much here myself. Soap 22:15, 18 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi. When you recently edited Valley of the T-Rex, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Shin (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Mesembriornis edit

I recently found your image of Phorusrhacos [2]. I think it's quite good (though as has been noted the proportions are somewhat off). Would you be interested in drawing Mesembriornis, another terror bird? We don't have any reconstructions for that one. If you want some additional information: Alvarenga & Hofling (2003) has a pretty good description of the animal, this image should give you a rough impression of its proportions and here you can find a picture of the skull. Slight misspelling in image edit

The picture at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megalania#mediaviewer/File:Extant_Monitor_lizards-Megalania_SIZE.png" references the book Dragons in the Dust, by Ralph Molnar. The name is spelled correctly throughout the article. The only exception is in the image where it is spelled Molner. I only noticed this error because I happened to be reading the article and noticed my last name (which is quite rare when compared to the ubiquity of the -ar spelling). Not having heard of this person before (almost all people with the last name Molner, while most of us are not related, we are aware of each other). It's not a serious issue but I just happened to stumble upon it and figured I'd point it out. A molner (talk) 02:06, 6 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Gallimimus photo edit

Hi Conty, are you not active anymore? I am working on the Gallimimus article, and noticed you had uploaded a high resolution photo of a reconstructed skeleton:[3] It looks strange that the skull openings have been painted out, including the sclerotic ring, so I was wondering if you could upload the original unaltered photo as well so it can be used in the article? Research invitation: Help us understand how editors work with media edit

Dear Conty~enwiki,

Because you’re an English Wikipedia editor who works with media files, I’d like to invite you to join a research session to help us understand how the media editing process can be improved. If you (or any other media editors who see this!) are interested in participating in an anonymous interview—for which you will be compensated—please first fill out this short survey in which we ask you a few questions about working with media. At the end, we ask for an email address that we can use to contact you if you are selected for an interview. If selected, we will follow up with an email invitation to select a day/time to participate. As a thank you for your time and insights, we are able to offer interview participants a gift card in compensation for participation.

You can complete the survey on any internet-capable device, but in order to participate in the interview, you will need access to a computer and internet connection fast enough to support video calls.
