Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for working to improve the site with Garden State Plaza and your edit to , as we really appreciate your participation. However, portions of the material you added had to be removed or rewritten, for the following reasons, which I previously mentioned in my prior edit summaries ([1], [2]), and will now go into with further detail:

First, as an encyclopedia, material in Wikipedia must be written in a neutral, formal tone, which means, among other things, that we must avoid puffery: words that are often used without attribution to promote the subject of an article, while neither imparting nor plainly summarizing verifiable information. They are known as "peacock terms" by Wikipedia contributors. Instead of making subjective proclamations about a subject's importance, use facts and attribution to demonstrate it. This is explicitly explained at WP:PEACOCK.

Simiarly, we should avoid slang words or jargon, such as using the word "eyed" to mean "considered".

Most importantly, Wikipedia requires that the material in its articles be supported by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly that you cite for them. The source that you cited in the Palisades Center article did not make any mention that the space previously occupied by Lord & Taylor was being considered for a Hilton Hotel. It is for this reason that I removed it.

Lastly, you reverted my edit on the Palisades Center article, stating in your edit summary, "Gossipy, against policy". I did not employ any "gossip" in my edit or my edit summary. But if you feel that some aspect of my edits was "against policy", then we should discuss it. If you can explain how my edits violated Wikipedia policy, please do so.

Hello! This is Good Wej. I recently noted that you undid the edits I made in restoring the New York area shopping mall articles to their status it was at about 2022's start. I greatly appreciate your commitment to improving so many different articles. However, I undid many of your edits because I fear that they remove information essential to the articles. For example, let's look at St. Lawrence Centre. St. Lawrence is by no means a major mall, so it certainly does not deserve a super lengthy article. My most recent revision to it I believe made very high quality. It painted a very vivid picture of the mall to me. It contain much information hat I believe is essential. I want to know that the mall is dying and barely surviving. I want to know that it has vacant Sears, Bon-Ton, and T.J.Maxx anchors. You don't see too many dead malls with vacant T.J. Maxx stores. I do believe that articles don't need to be excessively long with unrelated information, so you can't pull out a particular part. For example, I don't find necessary for the article on Sunrise Mall on Long Island to contain the bus routes. But I also don't believe that articles should remove essential information that may be interesting. Hopefully, we can work together and our ideas together to create excellent articles on northeastern malls in U.S.!

"legendary division" Lord & Taylor

This edit, again added the puffery "legendary division" in describing Lord & Taylor. This is exactly what is excluded by WP:PEACOCK. It is completely unencyclopedic and this is far from the first time you've added this in regard to the chain, including this edit,mentioned in a previous warning. Please stop doing do. • The use of "legendary division" as a description of Lord & Taylor was removed from about 20 other articles. Please try to either accept the guidance that's being offered or engage in discussion if you disagree. Disregarding the input from other editors and failing to discuss these issues will only make problems worse. Alansohn (talk) 02:02, 11 April 2022 (UTC)
  • MOS:PEACOCK says "Words such as these are often used without attribution to promote the subject of an article, while neither imparting nor plainly summarizing verifiable information. They are known as 'peacock terms' by Wikipedia contributors." And the number-one word on the list is.... "legendary". The word might, might, belong in an article about Lord & Taylor, but only with appropriate reliable and verifiable sources; the word "legendary" doesn't belong in every mention of the chain in every mall article.     • This edit is a good indicator of the problem. The previous version factually states that the location at the mall would be closing as part of a nationwide liquidation. Your change implies that the store at the mall had been "continuously operating for 195 years". I'm not the only editor who has disagreed with and removed your edits. In some case, content may belong in the article for the chain but not in the same stilted wording in every single mall where the chain has (or had) a location. Running through and undoing edits without any discussion or explanation is the very definition of edit warring. I suggest that you become more familiar with Wikipedia and make an effort to address the issues that I and other editors have raised before making reverts. Alansohn (talk) 06:56, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
