Oddessy vs Odyssey edit

Whoa, dude, it looks like you're merging the JFJO articles the wrong way. Copy the good infomation from Jacob Fred Jazz Oddessy (wrong spelling) into Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey (right spelling), not the other way around! Then, when you're done, we can delete the misspelled article (or turn it into a redirect). Xtifr tälk 06:38, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:THSI.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:THSI.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:10, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Tommie_Harris.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Tommie_Harris.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Tommie Harris SI.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Tommie Harris SI.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Edit to Olbermann edit

I've gone ahead and reverted your addition of the Don Imus firing section on the Keith Olbermann page for now.[1] Your addition falls under a synthesis of information to further a position. If you can find a reliable source that calls Olbermann's treatment of Imus vs. his treatment of various Fox News personalities a controversy and hypocritical then it you might be able to include that section.--Bobblehead 23:39, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your concern, however I believe I cited six seperate sources, one being a transcript from his show and five other audio sources coming directly from the horse's mouth. Are they not supportive of this entry? Objectively speaking, I think this is a controversial issue needing to be brought to light due to his subjectivity. I could probably write it more objectively. What is it about my sources did you not find to be objective? -- Cobrapete 20:48, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's the drawing together of those unrelated events to draw a conclusion that makes it a synthesis of material. Keith Olbermann may have very well said the exact things you stated in your addition, but until you find a reliable source (Olbermann Watch isn't a reliable source) saying that Olbermann is being hypocritical by saying he won't speak out against Imus and yet demanding Fox employees speak out against their co-workers, the conclusion your drawing can't be made. Here's a quote from WP:SYN:
Hope that's a helpful explanation of why your addition is original research. --Bobblehead 18:21, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Commercial use of Image:Harry Caray 7th Inning Stretch.jpg edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Harry Caray 7th Inning Stretch.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Harry Caray 7th Inning Stretch.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Harry Caray 7th Inning Stretch.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 16:52, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate images uploaded edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Harry Caray Singing the Stretch.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Harry Caray 7th Inning Stretch.jpg. The copy called Image:Harry Caray 7th Inning Stretch.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 17:16, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

October 2007 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, your recent edits to Greg Gutfeld have been reverted as they could be seen to be defamatory or potentially libellous. Take a look at our welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. richi 17:36, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

To be clear, it's not good enough to say something defamatory about an individual and then say "allegedly"—it's not a majik legal incantation that makes it all OK. Also, as with all statements made in Wikipedia, you need at least one good cite for that sort of statement. As to your other comment, this isn't a pure "vandalism" warning, it's a "uw-defamatory1", but these standard warning templates come under the broad Wikipedia category of "vandalism". Please review Wikipedia:Vandalism for more information ... richi 09:44, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:4Ghosts.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:4Ghosts.gif. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 13:59, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
