WikiProject Industrial design (announcements)

  • NEW! The meaning of all this is that the 'startup' phase of the ID project is finished. The project now switches to its 'mature' phase. I encourage you to put your name in the todo page after one of the remaining   tasks. You can also aim to be Coordinator if you so desire. Thank you again and see you around, --AlainR345Techno-Wiki-Geek 05:54, 21 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank Alainr345 for the invitation. I hope my feeble contributions could improve the project.

Hi Chimin, sorry for the delay, I just remembered you were interested in this project... (I put your name in the list of participants, where you can put your initials if you care) For the time being, could you list which (Industrial) Design articles you worked on in the past? Bye for now, --AlainR345Techno-Wiki-Geek 21:43, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hi Alain, sorry for my late response. It was Chinese New Year last week, and I did not login. The (industrial) design-related articles that I had edited are Bauhaus, color theory, critical design, design, design for Environment, design research, IDEO, industrial design, Johannes Itten, pininfarina, Ulm School of Design, Vladimir Tatlin, and Walter Gropius. I don't have much time reading Wikipedia lately, so my progress will probably be slow. Chimin 07 (talk) 14:03, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
I observe you're quite active on Wikipedia these days. Maybe you could help a bit with the Industrial design project. If you are interested, I have a specific proposition for you: look at this page and find the new articles there that fit an Industrial design topic. If they do, you tag them with {{WikiProject Industrial design}} (on their talk page). Please put {{Doing}} and your initials here on the 'New Industrial design categorized articles' line, so that we know you are doing this, thank you, --AlainR345Techno-Wiki-Geek 05:38, 4 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hi again Chimin. I see you're active with the 'new Design articles' task. Good job. For that, I give you a Charter member status. As you can see, there are a number of 'false positives' generated in the list. So, if you're knowledgeable with Regexp, don't hesitate to tweak this ruleset. Keep up the good work, --AlainR345Techno-Wiki-Geek 04:39, 25 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hi Alain, Thank you. It's my honor to become a Charter member. I have a question though. I tagged Renaud Kerbrat, a gun designer; Charley Morgan, a sailboat designer; and Central Institute of Tool Design under the industrial design category. They don't seem to be typical ID articles. Are there any criteria for deciding which articles to include? Chimin 07 (talk) 15:51, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:36, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
