I decided to be fussy about the criteria. Mr Lyons would not have met Wikipedia's notability criteria for the first two and a half weeks of the article's existence -- that is, prior to the election. And in fact, I would have deleted it as soon as I saw it. Because it was an election ad. Just being a candidate at that level is not an assertion of notability (it's not a statement that someone is NOT notable, but it's not a statement that they ARE, either).

After the election, it was still an election ad, with "he won!!!" added at the bottom. (Obviously I paraphrase, but you get the idea.)

Should we have an article about Mr Lyons? Yes, because he won the election. But I'm not giving you back the gushing froth you had before. Start over. Write a new article about him. Use only the facts, and only the relevant facts. Consider that the article will be seen by people who don't like Mr Lyons. Be fair. DS (talk) 20:54, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
