Ymblanter: I put a little defense of the article I created today on today's articles for deletion page, but I will repeat the idea here in case you're watching my talk page. This guy died and it was picked up as news by Washington Post, USA Today, The Independent, Time Magazine, BBC, CBS, etc.... I realize that he isn't a huge celebrity, but I think he was clearly a big enough social media star to fit into Wikipedia, especially inasmuch as his story is an interesting footnote in the matter of Free solo climbing. Also, I searched Wikipedia for his entry as soon as I saw the news of his death; was very surprised there was no article...he was probably as big a star in China as Fred Figglehorn or Magibon. I tried to do a responsible job of starting the article... posted 5 separate references, made sure it's not an orphan. I've seen far more useless Wikipedia articles anyway, so how about letting my first created-article slide? Cellodont (talk) 21:53, 12 December 2017 (UTC)cellodontReply

So I have had a bit of time to converse with at least one other wikipedian and do a bit of research, and it seems apparent that Mr Yongning was not actually a free solo climber like Alain Robert, but was more of a daredevil/stunt guy, so for me the article is much less interesting now, needs to be edited to remove references to free solo climbing, and its only reason to be included on wikipedia is that the guy was famous enough in China to merit a bunch of online news coverage when he died. Interesting enough to be remembered on wikipedia? I don't know. Make your own decision, WikipediaCellodont (talk) 04:02, 13 December 2017 (UTC)cellodontReply

Discussion of Newspapers.com edit

Hi Cellodont - no problem asking questions. I wish I knew how to contact you differently than posting on your Talk page. To answer your question - I love newspapers.com! I find that they have a number of newspapers that they subscribe to and their interface runs very quickly. When I enter a search, almost immediately I get a list of matches. The variety of newspapers is good across the country too. I don't use them much for international newspapers although they have a decent supply of Canadian papers - or enough to get what is needed. Newspaper Archive is good for select papers. For example, they have a nice selection from Wisconsin which is helpful. I am glad that you found the request page. I also put in for a subscription to JSTOR which is a great resource for journal articles and analysis which is a little more in depth. I encourage you to try some research and more editing than grammar and spelling. It's more fun at least it has been to me. Feel free to ask any questions you like! Talk page is super fine. (talk)
