Revision as of 15:19, 29 March 2007 Harry Richard Landis (December 12, 1898) is one of the last surviving american World War I veterans. Landis was born in Tampa Bay, Florida in 1898. Landis was a jewish man who grew up poor. In 1914 when he was 16 years old he joined the U.S. Army at age 16. Landis may have served in World War I however, he never saw action and stayed at Fort Greene, North Carolina. Landis may have not gotten a chance to serve in the First World War however, he did serve against the Japanese in World War II. Landis has a granddaughter and a great grandson that live in Trumbull, Connecticut and his wife died in 1994. Landis claims he was born in the year 1907 and told that to some of his family. Landis resides in Sun Center, Florida in a nursing home at age 108.
