Welsh music

Hiya. Wow, what a lot of contributions in barely a week: welcome to Wikipedia! I have one question, though. You removed a reference to the Poppies in the Music of Wales article with the edit summary "pseudonym for the Alarm". I'm a bit confused now. First, I didn't see it mentioned in the article about The Alarm: so if you have a cite for this, it should probably go into that article. Second, there are obviously several bands with the name. The band I saw recently were definitely not the Alarm. Nor were they the 60s group from Australia which seems to have acquired the article. (Some disambiguation needed there, I think..) The ones I'm thinking of are from Aberystwyth and were formed in the last couple of years, hence their mention in the context of the 21st century. In fairness, they're probably not as well-known as the other bands mentioned there, so perhaps we should wait until they are before putting them back in. But I am pretty sure they're not the Alarm :) --Telsa 19:59, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

Your reversions

Why have you reverted my corrections to a number of articles? I changed, for example, Album to Album and Britain to United Kingdom, I removed some duplicated links to years, removed "???" etc. — all in accordance with the Wikipedia Manual of Style and normal English conventions. --Phronima 13:46, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

I happened to be doing my occasional trawl through recent changes (mainly looking for new-page vandalism to be marked for speedy deletion) when my eye was caught by one of the titles with wrongly capitalised prepositions and/or articles -- and that led me into a chain of articles as I followed links to other albums... By the end I was wishing that I'd never started! When I checked the histories I realised that I was sometimes seconds behind you, but (apart from the first one) that was mostly coincidence.

I see that the triple question mark is OK according to Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums (though I must say I don't like it; a dash would be better, I think), but the running time should be mm:ss, and I think that "n/a" should be lower case (and not italicised?); again, though, would a dash look better? --Phronima 16:20, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

That's weird; it looks as though someone recently moved Album (music) to Album without explanation, and with no discussion on the Talk page. That's irritating, especially considering the thousands of articles that link to the former, but also because other uses of the word "album" are just as prominent. --Phronima 10:10, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

Sources for Play (EP)

Hello, good work on Play (EP), and thanks for the contribution. However, you did not provide any references or sources in the article. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a push to encourage editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. From what websites, books, or other places did you learn the information that you added to Play (EP)? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? It's not just a good idea, it's necessary. You need to establish not just that the work is real, but that it's notable. See WP:MUSIC. Otherwise the article(s) will probably be deleted, sooner or later. Regards, Ben Aveling 10:28, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
