(1) You will forgive me if I seem stupid, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to put the diffs in the format that you want. I don't know where that magic number comes from. {{Diff2|MagicNumber|example}} I know it is the revision number but I can't find it. Don't assess this yet, I have to do it over. Hi TheDoDahMan, Pls see Help:Page history. For hist diff linking - pls see How to put diffs and links into your text section. The easy way which I use is to the page history of the article and click the 2 different version of the edits (2 dots will appear) then copy the URL of the history page and page them on where you wanted by including " [" before the URL and " ] " about the URL. (note when linkings using URL we have only one bracket before and after the URL; for internal (Wikipedia/Common/Category and etc) title linking we put "double brackets" before and after the page title name. See examples below
(A) Using your first example of Assignment 1 question #1 on vandalism exercise. (pls view in source edit mode)
  1. . Internal link - use double bracket to house the title/page name = Geek
  2. . External link - use single bracket to house the URL = [1]
Either way, it will lead you to the same page.
(B) For hist diff using dots. (pls view in source edit mode)
  1. . Go to "History page of Geek - you can (i) click on "history" on the menu which is same as (ii) using internal link = Talk:Geek or (iii) using external link (URL) = [2]. Al three will lead to the same Talk page of Greek history page.
  2. . to provide the hist diff of user 2019‎ 2403:8600:c10:8fcb:c51f:4e53:4ea8:7425 edit made on 01:17, May 28 and your edit made on 01:20, May 28, 2019‎, pls click on the circles (two dots will appear) "01:20, May 28, 2019‎ TheDoDahMan" edit and " 01:17, May 28, 2019‎ 2403:8600:c10:8fcb:c51f:4e53:4ea8:7425" edits.
  3. .click the "compare selected revisions" (above the lasted edit on the history page) it will lead you to the 2 revisions of the edit you selected of the page.
  4. . copy the URL - https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Geek&type=revision&diff=899048634&oldid=899048289&diffmode=source and add bracket before and after the URL and click publish/save then you will see this [3] which lead you to the two revisions page - this means you have made/provided the "hist diff".

Hi TheDoDahMan, Pls provide hist diff. For Fair-use images and Wikipedia:Non-free content. As the fair use images is diff from country to country and subject to diff usage, I usually leave the edit as it is and only revert blatant image upload which is considered vandalism such as obscene images on said President Obama page as it has nothing to do with the page itself. Hi TheDoDahMan, In Wikipedia all national varieties of English are acceptable - see MOS:ENGVAR. If a topic has strong ties to a particular English-speaking nation, then that particular nation English spelling can be used - see WP:TITLEVAR If the page is about "Australia xxxx" and the spelling of the content is spelled in "Australian English" spelling then the interested editors normally will follow the same spelling. I have lived in US, Europe, Australia and Asia and I use different national English spellings as my fingers hit the keyboard. - see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Spelling. (5) Is there a template for well meaning juvenile editors? I have encountered a few articles where a child was obviously editing and the content is true, but also self-evident to an adult and also detracts from "encyclopaedic tone". TheDoDahMan, I believer you were referring to user 197.246.74.104 as per the history page of the article - [4] (pls provide hist diff next time as at times there are many editors edits around the same time, and I would not able to know which editor you refer to). From the hist diff [5] from edits 04:28, May 30, 2019‎ to 04:47, May 30, 2019‎ (8 in a row), that would justify at least a vand3. From the edits, the user is a vandal only editor. I dont remember if STiki could able to manually select specific warning and level of warning (i havent use STiki that for a long time as I find Huggle is much better). If you spot something you nee to place a certain warning type or warning level which you see in STiki, then open the affected article, go to the history page of the article and revert the edit (use hist diff and click "restore this version - I am not sure you could do that for your user current user right), then go to the editor talk page and use TWinkle to place the warning accordingly. If you cant use "restore this version" button, then revert using STiki and go to the editor talk page and correct the warning level but always leave a message stated your reason in edit summary. If you you can find the message template in Twinkle, then manually subst the warning in the talk page and you alway would manually write a personal message when the template does not specifically enough to address your message (communication is the key in Wikipedia). Hi. Thanks for the advice. Yes, I can use restore, I have had to use it a couple of times for sequential vandalism to an article. One of them was actually missed by the CVU team, that is to say they undid the vandalism, but the reverted version was still bad, so I restored to the last good version. As for STiki, you can only issue a welcome or a {{subst:uw-vandalism1}} message, at least according to the documentation. I haven't used it yet. I'm going to use it today to finish Assignment 3 because I need some examples of persistent vandalism. I will provide diffs in future when I have a question. TheDoDahMan, Good that you revert to the stable/good version (we use "Rv further - vandalism" in the edit summary such edit). Also if you see an editor makes a vandal edit, do check all that editor's edit of the day and see if the editor also make vandal edit on other pages, if so rv and warn them. Btw you need to have at least 2 AIV reports and 2 test edit on the current assignment. Btw, I will be in transit this weekend, so I might not be as available as usual. Cheers. TheDoDahMan, Thank you for the hist diff. The WP:LEAD is the summary/introduction of the content in the body of an article as such the info should retain especially the info is sourced. (9) CASSIOPEIA, I have a smart one. This one keeps vandalising Stephane Graff. I have warned them several times, but nothing shows on the talk page later. I hope this is sufficient for investigation. I'm certain they are also using IP 2A02:C7D:83D:4800:B438:3EA4:4424:3459 and 2A02:C7D:83D:4800:9E0:C9B:2185:9DBD and 2A02:C7D:83D:4800:580B:FF57:424F:AD26 and Raggedtrouseredphilanthropists2019, perhaps more... User behaviour: The user typically uses an IP twice and then abandons it for new one. In each case the user tries to insert identical, unsubstantiated (and unverifiable) content into a BLP of Stephane Graff. For some reason, no warnings are present on the talk pages associated with the most of the IPs. Perhaps they have been deleted. After using a large number of IPs the user has acquired the username: Raggedtrouseredphilanthropists2019. Now that the user has acquired an account, they are trying to argue with me over giving a level 1 warning. I have not responded. In the first incident the user gave a website as a reference:[26]. Subsequent edits do not include this "reference". According to my research it does not substantiate their claim. After the edit made by the named account was reverted on 04 June 2019, they went back to using an IP address. I believe this user is a "sock puppet" and that a check user is warranted.

TheDoDahMan, Good morning. Good to know that you keep no more than 3 revert within 24 hours on the same article here WP:3RR. It looks like a sock. What you could do is to report to WP:SPI. Read the info/instructions of the page and open the "How to open an investigation". Place the sock master (if could identify which editor/IP editor) and if not, then put the one involved editor name/IP address). List all the involved editor names/IP address and state your (1) reasons/evidence in a clear way in texts and with (2) hist diff.

TheDoDahMan, It looks ok to me. Btw, when you said "I have warned them several times, but nothing shows on the talk page later", did you used STiki or Twinkle? As I know when using tool such as STiki and Huggle, the revert might register but not the warning, this would be the edits were not current edits (a few days before) or the system sometimes just doesn't registered (maybe due to some bugs). I often check the user talk page to make sure it is registered if I use Huggle (there is a feature to do that in Huggle), but if you use Twinkle is should work all the time. If you have warned the user but the warning does not show in their talk page, then do it again in the talk page using Twinke or subst it manually. Cheers.
