Archive: Old version of paragraph 10 from Mifepristone edit

"Opponents of the drug have claimed that its approval was "fast tracked" under sub-section H in the FDA approval process. However sub-section H actually has two sub-parts. The first is to rush experimental drugs, such as aggressive HIV and cancer treatments, to the market as the expediency of their approval is deemed to be vitally important due to the rapid decline of many of the potential patients. The relevant part of sub-section H applies to drugs that must meet more rigorous standards and are subject to distribution restrictions. Mifepristone was approved under this second part of sub-section H. The result is that women must now receive the drug directly from their doctor; they may not pick it up at a pharmacy.[1][2]"

Sandbox edit

You accidentally created a sandbox in the article namespace (CPWinter/Sandbox). I took the liberty to move it to User:CPWinter/Sandbox2, where I think it belongs. Happy editing. --Zoz (t) 11:44, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Peop0105schorr.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Peop0105schorr.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Image copyright problem with Image:Peop0105schorr.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Peop0105schorr.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BrownCow • (how now?) 21:12, 2 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Survey Invitation edit

Orphaned non-free image (Image:DPaget Face.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:DPaget Face.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 01:23, 17 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:BL_Candid2.jpeg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:BL_Candid2.jpeg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 08:07, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:GOG-MAGOGa.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:GOG-MAGOGa.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 17:22, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

June 2015 edit

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Lester Maddox may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • after its drugs had been found to be contaminated with the AIDS virus.<ref name="SunSentinel">{{cite news |title=Maddox Fears He May Have Contracted Aids |date =July 31, 1985 |url=http://
  • } </ref> Maddox underwent testing, and two months later announced that he was free of the virus.{{cite news |title=Maddox Gets Good News: No Sign of AIDS |date =August 27, 1985 |url=http://

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Help me! edit

Please help me with fixing syntax errors in two references I added to an article. I just noticed a June 2015 message from Bracebot informing me of these errors. But when I went to the article, the reference list was not visible on the edit page. The article is "Lester Maddox."

Will look now. SwisterTwister talk 05:45, 13 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
It seems whatever it was, it was now taken care of because there's nothing to suggest there are currently references troubles. The message was from June and seems no longer applicable now. Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 05:47, 13 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
