Sockpuppet investigation edit

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/C.edwards, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community. Mz7 (talk) 19:07, 6 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I was helping two classmate move their drafts to the articlespace. For a class assignment, we were required to create Wikipedia articles for the professor to review. I did not know moving two people from the draftspace to the articlespace would label me a sock puppet. Please unblock the accounts as they are other students from my intelligence studies class.

Accept reason:

Could you please provide the following information, either here on your Talk page or in an e-mail to me:
  • What school are you editing from?
  • Does your professor have a username at Wikipedia? If so, what is it? If not, what is their name?
  • Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of C.edwards lists all the accounts I blocked. Please identify which ones you know are classmates of yours.
  • When will this assignment be over?
Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:47, 7 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'm editing from Mercyhurst University. Professor Wheaton is our instructor, I don't know his username. I helped Acorti48 and Spfarnan1209, but the usernames in the list look like my classmates. This assignment is already over. To the best of my knowledge, most of us will not be creating new articles for the class. Thank you for your time and help. Thanks for your answers. I've e-mailed Professor Wheaton. Please be patient.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:10, 7 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your help. Sorry for the confusion with all of this. C.edwards (talk) 17:12, 7 May 2017 (UTC) Hi, I am Prof. Wheaton and I can confirm that these are all my students. I apologize for the misunderstanding. Our intent was not to engage in any deception or misdirection. I received your email and will work your guidance into my syllabus the next time I teach this class. Kwheaton11 (talk) 16:17, 8 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the confirmation. I've reopened the SPI and asked a clerk to unblock all the accounts and remove the tags from the students' userpages.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:10, 8 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
