On Notability

edit

You might want to review the notablity criteria. Individual buildings on a college campus only require separate encyclopedia articles if there is information available about them in multiple independent reliable sources- for example, articles about the building in newspapers or magazines independent of the university, or books written about the building. As you create articles about notable buildings, don't forget to cite those sources to prevent other editors from mistaking them for non-notable buildings. Have fun! -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 22:08, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of The Powerhouse Restaurant

edit

A tag has been placed on The Powerhouse Restaurant requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. RayAYang (talk) 22:26, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Remember what I warned you of above; if you forget to cite your sources, other users will think that your articles are about non-notable buildings, and request that they be deleted. Follow the advice I gave you above to help avoid this in the future. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 22:30, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of To The Top

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article To The Top, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. July 2008

edit

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with The Powerhouse Restaurant. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion. Thank you. RayAYang (talk) 05:13, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Southern Miss Golden Eagles. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. AfD nomination of To The Top

edit

I have nominated To The Top, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/To The Top. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Victor Lopes (talk) 01:43, 19 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't doubt the notability of this university. But I doubt the song's. And I don't need any knowledge on it to judge its notability, not with this in mind. A song is not famous only because it's related to somebody/something famous. If that was the case, we would have articles on all Foo Fighters songs, for example. An article's subject must be notable on its own. The song of this university is not famous outside the university, even though the university is. If you have found other articles about songs from universities, just propose their deletion. Anyway, you should take a look at WP:WAX. Let's not talk about other articles whose subjects are not notable. If they exist, they are inappropriate, so let's not use it as a reason for introducing more inappropriate pages. And as you said, these links mention the song, they do not talk about the song exclusively, which means that the article still fails to assert notability. If you really fell the need to add this content to Wikipedia, you can easily do it on the page of the university, for example, but there's really no need to create a separated page for it. Victor Lopes (talk) 04:49, 19 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
To propose songs deletion, you can always do a WP:PROD. Instructions are on this link, but if you want a quick guide, here it is: Add the following code to the very top of the article: {{subst:prod|REASON}}. Instead of "REASON", however, you should write the reason why you feel the song should be deleted. Short sentences like "Fails to assert notability as per WP:MUSIC." are the ones I often apply on my prods. After you add it, the article will be deleted at anytime after five days. In the meantime, anyone, including the creator, is allowed to remove it. If it happens, then you'll have to take it to WP:AFD, unless the person provides a good reason for removing the tag. Instructions to do an AfD, in case you need, are also on this link. And believe me, it explains it much better than me. Cheers, Victor Lopes (talk) 05:02, 19 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

re: Reporting an administrator

edit

There is a way to complain about administrators, I just don't remember how to do it. I'll try to find the right place for you to do it, then I'll give you the link. But which problem is he or she causing to you, specifically? Victor Lopes (talk) 04:53, 19 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, deleting pages on songs without proper discussions is not the right thing to do as long as I know (I'm talking about the WP:CSD criteria). I've seen that administrator doing some work here and there, and she often seemed a nice, fair, hard-working person to me =P I'm still looking for that link. Oh! And please don't simply blank pages, OK? This is simply unnacceptable around here, and you can get yourself involved in more trouble...let the AfD discussion decide the fate of this article. Victor Lopes (talk) 05:08, 19 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Got it! Take a look at this section of this article, it briefly explains what to do when facing problems with admins, apart from providing useful links. Victor Lopes (talk) 05:11, 19 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I encourage you to report abuse administrators. In fact, look at some of the pages of the abusers. They are not even administrators yet. To protect yourself from retaliatory blocks, I suggest that you edit in secure mode. Good luck. Dogru144 (talk) 07:27, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of All-American Rose Garden

edit

The article All-American Rose Garden has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unsourced nn rose garden ; the article does not support the claim

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Oo7565 (talk) 14:57, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
