Buphoff
Welcome!
Welcome to Wikipedia, Buphoff! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:
- How to edit a page
- Editing, policy, conduct, and structure tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)
I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Ryan 09:33, August 1, 2005 (UTC)
- We try to get newcomers into the swing of things early, or else they may end up as a clueless newbie. :( Just one suggestion: Please use the datestamp (four dashes) to sign and date your posts. This way, we know who posted without having to search for the poster. Ryan 09:40, August 1, 2005 (UTC)
Hi, I know that you spent a lot of time writing the Awesomeness article, but please see WP:NOT. It's Wikipedia policy, and it's something like that is usually not tolerated. Could be great on a blog, forum, or personal website though. — Stevey7788 (talk) 20:22, 5 August 2005 (UTC)

I'm the source...I stated that the image is licenced for public use. What more should I do?

Panorama stitching problems
editHi there. I use PTgui (basically does the same job as Hugin only it has a better interface and isn't free - there is a trial period available to see if it works better than Hugin for you, but it will leave a watermark in the image until you pay for a licence), but I use Smartblend (which is free, and I believe it will work for Hugin too but I haven't tried) for blending, as it does a far superior job and can even (sometimes) correct for parallax errors and issues where there is movement between frames. For example, if between frames, a person raised his arm, it can automatically blend out the arm because it recognises that this was a change between frames. Obviously it isn't perfect as it cannot know for sure what you want or don't want to be included, so if it doesn't work out how you'd like, you can tell PTgui to output to a Photoshop layered PSD file, meaning you can manually manipulate the blending between layers, but I find I don't often need to worry about doing that. Just do a google search for PTGui and Smartblend. Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 08:44, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
Chicago building labels
editHello Buphoff. First off, thank you for such a neat image of the great Chicagoan skyline.
.
Here are a few more building names:
- The wide brown-gray building between the Three First National Plaza and the Daley Center labels is Mid-Continental Plaza.
- The "short" white thin building directly against the Sears Tower is the Chicago Board of Trade Building (which was the tallest in the city during the Great Depression, World War II, and the 1950s).
- The bluish building between Aon Center and 340 on the Park is the Blue Cross & Blue Shield Tower, which just was approved for a 25-story height extension.
- Finally, the brown-red builidng which is the farthest on the right besides Lake Point Tower is the North Pier Apartments.

Chicago Skyline buildings
editHow do you attach names to the buildings? I think you are missing a few. On the far left of the cropped version you will see the Blackstone Hotel. I also think the Kluczynski Federal Building is visible next to the AT&T Corporate Center but I am not sure. TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio) 16:10, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Re: FPC St. Louis
editYes, edit 2 is mine. :) I used Photoshop's sharpen filter and image sizing tool. I also used the levels tool to adjust the histogram. Hope this answers your questions. :S CillaИ X♦C [dic] 00:31, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

IPK image
editBuphoff: The Kilogram article used to have an actual photo of the IPK but it was yanked because it is copyrighted. All images of the IPK are copyrighted. That’s why I created the CG image; so the article could have an image of the IPK. Since the seeming option of just using a photograph was an important part of your ‘no’ vote, I was hoping you might change your vote. Greg L (my talk) 16:22, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
