Hi, Buinne, Welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope you like this place and want to stick around. Feel free to contribute in any way you can. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Though we all make silly mistakes, here is what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. The Community Portal can also be very useful, and if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page.

Good luck! -Chairman S. 21:50, 4 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Avatar-TLAcalligraphy.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Avatar-TLAcalligraphy.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:40, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Aang

edit

You do pose a good argument. However, I believe that Aang's flight from home is a key part of the introduction. It is not just part of his history but a key description of his personality and characteristics. It is his beginning and it is the event that sets the plot for the rest of his story. WP:LEAD says, "The lead section should briefly summarize the most important points covered in an article in such a way that it can stand on its own as a concise version of the article". If this event is not an important point then I am not sure what is. Please tell me how the event that might have saved Aang from death, is repeatedly shown throughout the entire show, changed his life completely from the beginning and sent Aang into suspended animation, and created the basis for the series itself is not an important event. Zuko's Agni-Kai may have been important in his history and personality, but it is rarely mentioned (except for a few key episodes) and does not hold as much importance with relevance to the show, or even Zuko himself, than Aang's childhood story does. I hope I showed you my side of the situation without confusion, and if you have anything to get back at me at and prove me wrong, please do so. I think I'll defer to you, re: Aang's motivations for now. But it still needs revision. It's very "run-on sentence" to me. But on the Aang talk page, I've just mentioned my concerns about listing his companions. The group is awfully large now, and I'm worried that inclusion will turn the lead into a "who's who in the Gaang" rather than a descriptor of the principal protagonist. Of course, I hail from an editorial culture of a couple years ago, when the Avatar pages suffered a high rate of vandalism and fandom wank. (Yay for lockdown, sort of)

Also see the Aang talk for my grump regarding the Musso mention. I just don't think he belongs in the lead--Buinne 22:41, 2 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Avatar: The Last Airbender episode merging disscussion

edit

Currently, due to complaints about the separate episode articles not being in compliance with WP:EPISODE, the articles are all currently being merged into combined articles, separated by book instead of episode. The current snadbox for the merging can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Avatar: The Last Airbender/season 1. To discuss or give ideas that will help, leave a message on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Avatar: The Last Airbender/season 1 or on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Avatar: The Last Airbender#Episode merging project. ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
