Maintenance tags

edit

Re this edit: it is not mandatory that you cleanup the article but if you do not intend to improve it, kindly leave the {{cleanup}} and other tags in place to signal to others that work is needed.

Conversely, since this does look like a copy&paste, it is absolutely mandatory that you declare the source of this text so that we may be sure that it is not a copyright violation.

And a rather basic thing: could you add his dates to the first sentence! — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 01:15, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

How many incoming links have you created to the article? So how can you possibly justify removal of the {{orphan}} tag? And above all, what is your reply to my question about source? Am I asking difficult qurestions? Why your silence? — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 02:58, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • The source is my sister, Carolyn Collen-Dubose, Henry Collen's great great granddaughter. I'm new at all this - how do I create an incoming link? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bruce Collen (talkcontribs)

Thanks. To create incoming links you think of all the possible articles that might refer to the guy, eg. history of photography, go to each article, add a few words to explain why (or just put him in the "see also"s) and create a link to Henry Collen. Simple innit?

Since you have at last responded, I will not bother to put back the {{wikify}} tag but you need to attend to:

Keep up the good work. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 06:33, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Appendix has been consolidated with Reference section and bulleted. Working on Naked External Links next. General shortening of section and paragraph length will follow. Thanks for your help!!

Conflict of interest

edit

Seeing as how the main source is a direct descendant of the subject (and I assume that you are, too, seeing as how you're her sister), you may be running afoul of Wikipedia's conflict of interest policies. Additionally, it is not permissible to directly copy some source material, as you appear to have done here, because of possible problems with copyright violations. Wikipedia is particularly vigilant about this because federal laws are involved. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 01:25, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
