Welcome to Wikipedia! edit

Hello Brodders, welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips:

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alphax τεχ 04:27, 10 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Oxonian edit

Whoo-hoo, another Oxonian, and even better, a self-professed copy-editor (my faves - I'm a good contributor and a lousy typist!). I have taken the utter liberty of adding "Category:Wikipedians in Oxfordshire" to your user page, if you prefer it without, please do not hesistate to remove it. Hope you enjoy it all. Another Oxonian edit

Hi Brodders. Thanks for the message about this on my talk page; I've moved the category you added to my user page. --hooverbag 09:51, 18 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Cat edit

I added |Brodders to the Category:Wikipedians in Oxfordshire on your user page, so you list under B instead of U (for User: ) hope that's ok. Alf melmac 13:49, 19 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Selig Brodetsky edit

I really appreciate your comment; too often, editing here is (to put it mildly) a thankless task. I am a great admirer of Selig Brodetsky, and it's nice to have the endorsement of his grandson, especially a Beethoven admirer. (I am struggling to play some of his sonatas.) Did you know that you have a distant relation here? User:David.Mestel is the great-grandson of Selig Brodetsky's sister.--Poetlister 11:53, 27 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Greetings edit

Aparrently, you are my second cousin once removed - I am the son of Jonathan Mestel, who is the son of Leon Mestel, whose cousin you apparently are. --David.Mestel 10:43, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Indeed. Once our family goes back into Eastern Europe, I believe it gets rather hard to trace - but we are related to the Russian comissar for transport under Stalin! --David.Mestel 21:02, 28 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I see you are maintaining the family tradition of large numbers of cats - Leo has 25! --David.Mestel 19:55, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

First ever Oxford Wiki Meetup edit

You are invited to the first ever Oxford Wiki Meetup which will take place at The Four Candles, 51 George Street, Oxford, OX1 2BE on Sunday 4 November 2012 from 1.00 pm.

I hope as many people as possible will be able to attend so that we can make this a regular event. If you have never been to one, this is an opportunity to meet other Wikipedians in an informal atmosphere for Wiki and non-Wiki related chat and for beer or food if you like. Experienced and new contributors are all welcome. This event is definitely not restricted just to discussion of Oxford related topics. Bring your laptop if you like and use the free Wifi or just bring yourself. Even better, bring a friend! Click the link for full details. Looking forward to seeing you. Proposed deletion of File:Kassam Stadium sign.jpg edit

The file File:Kassam Stadium sign.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 15 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
