DKR Photo

edit

I noticed your Image:Album_Four_225.jpg, and noted that you are apparently the son of DKR. If this is true, do you have any more photos from his time as a OU player, other relevant pics from his childhood, pics from his time as a coach, etc.? I think some of the OU pics could be useful in the OU articles, the UT pics could be good in the UT articles, especially the ones from his era, and additional primary source pics like this could be useful in DKR's article. If you have pics like this (maybe team photos, etc.), that would really bring some special media to wikipedia and illuminate some of the articles from Red River, UT, and OU. Thanks. →Deser† sapper•≈talk 19:24, 24 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mack royal

edit

The article Mack royal has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki 21:45, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Same for Mack Royal. Please don't post this article unless and until you can find reliable independent sources showing that this person is notable per WP:BIO. And being Darrell Royal's son does not confer notability. NawlinWiki 21:56, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

What a great detective you would make. Of course I am Mack Royal. I never hid this from anyone. It's not just being Darrell Royal's son! On the other hand, what about Royal families? Where's the line? Anyway, I am artist in my own right and if anyone would just give a minute or two to document stuff the way you want it, I can do that. Just take a gander at some of my photos. Do you think those just fell in my lap? Gee Whiz!

Speedy deletion of Lee Daniel

edit

A tag has been placed on Lee Daniel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Warning

edit

Please stop creating articles about non-notable subjects and people. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. OhNoitsJamie Talk 18:36, 7 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

You know, look at the Lee Daniel page now. See? I start a page and before I can get back to it and document it, proving that the person is actually notable, it gets deleted. And not only that, you didn't tell me what you deleted. Bozo Texino is a totally legitimate page. I understand your objection. I did personalize it. It still deserves to be retained without the extraneous bs.

Also, I certainly am Mack Royal. I don't have a photography business. I take a lot of photos and interesting ones at that. I am part of the Austin art scene, but nobody will give me a chance to get as far as documenting any of this. Somebody just comes along, takes a glance, and deletes it. I don't even get a chance to prove anything with documentation. That might take more than five minutes of life that my Mack Royal page got.

I mean, what's the hurry. I know what I'm talking about. Just give me a warning or something without making snap judgements that way. These pages don't come full-blown with documentation automatically appearing all at once.

Now I'm being threatened with blacklisting. What's that all about?

How about let's get back that Bozo Texino page. I'll keep it encyclopedic.

By the way, how do I actually reply to Ohnoitsjamie?

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Chenier Brothers.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sdrtirs (talk) 14:07, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Help with articles "not quite ready for primetime"

edit

I noticed some of the discussion above about articles you've created that have been subsequently deleted. One of the things I like to do when I'm creating an article, knowing that I need a little time to find reliable sources to establish Notability, is to create a scratch version in my own userspace rather than the live site.

This isn't hard to do. All you need to do is create a sandbox "subpage" on your own account. Click on your userpage link (the red link up there that says "user page") and give yourself a basic userpage that says "I'm Bozotexino", or something along those lines. Next, put your cursor up in the URL field, and at the end enter the following (without the quotes) "/sandbox". Hit enter. This will take you to a new blank page and you should see a link there asking if you want to create it. Create the page and write whatever you like there. You will always be able to access this page and edit it by syping the same text into the URL field after you've clicked on your user page.

This personal "sandbox" is a great place for working on your article, making is nice and sharp, and finding all the references you need to fulfill guidelines. Then, when it's ready for prime time, you can copy and paste all of the text form there into a new, properly titled article in mainspace.

If you need help, let me know and I can try to walk you through this.

While you're at it, take a few minutes to read the following links, as they'll be really helpful to you in creating quality articles that don't just get deleted:

These policies are your friends. If you can establish notability by properly citing the info in the article, nearly anything and anybody can have a Wikipedia article.

Finally, after typing a comment or response on yours (or someone else's) talkpage, please hit the spacebar and type four tildes (like this ~~~~) as this will automatically add your signate to the comment, allowing readers to know who is speaking. Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Nobody of Consequence (talk) 05:55, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

No problem, glad to help. Sometimes the established (entrenched) Wikipedia folks can seem a little grouchy... part of the problem is we deal with huge numbers of people who come here on a daily basis to just act like fools and our responses become automatic. A lot of the time, it's just someone new who needs a little help. Hope you enjoy contributing and love the photography. Portales has a number of good photo ops. There's a building on the main highway through town, just past the bus station, that was stuccoed over back around 1999. Before that, it had a prominent painted sign on the side saying "Studebaker Packard Service", something I always wished I'd caught before they covered it up. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): \byoutube\.com (links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvt3qkndiog). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. Video links are also strongly deprecated by our guidelines for external links, partly because they're useless to people with slow internet connections.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. File permission problem with File:Album Four 225.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Album Four 225.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Dman41689 (talk) 07:19, 8 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
