Speedy deletion nomination of Analyzing Acoustical Noise Sources

edit

A tag has been placed on Analyzing Acoustical Noise Sources, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:56, 16 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi BobSound. I saw your objection to the deletion of Analyzing Acoustical Noise Sources and I have a couple of responses. First, rather than recreating the article the best place to bring it up would be at the talk page of the person who deleted it, or else here on your talk page with a {{helpme}} notice to draw attention.
Secondly, on the issue of promotion: I take your point about the page being hosted on a commercial site, but I think that what the above editors were concerned about was the article being used to promote the book itself. It might be helpful to read our notability guideline, which details what sort of subjects qualify for Wikipedia articles. Basically if the book has received significant coverage in "reliable sources" - things like newspapers or major trade journals, for instance - then it's a suitable topic for an article, but otherwise not. If you believe it has received such coverage and can provide us with references then I'll be happy to recreate the article so you can add them; otherwise Wikipedia is not really the place to write about the book.
I hope that's all clear - feel free to ask me any questions you may have at my talk page. I'll leave a welcome template with some handy links at the top of this page. Good luck! Olaf Davis (talk) 18:03, 16 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
P.S. I've moved your request to User:BobSound/Analyzing Acoustical Noise Sources, which marks it as being part of your "user space" instead of "main space" - i.e. the pages which are part of the encyclopedia itself. Olaf Davis (talk) 18:07, 16 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
