Speedy deletion of Wichita online

edit

A tag has been placed on Wichita online requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello. I created the page Wichita Online, which yes is about a company. I did so, because as a resident in the are of the Tatums, OK Community, I along with several other people, to include US Congressmen and US Senators worked very hard to get a Government grant. I feel that because it was worked on by such prestigious government officials and because it has to do with government money, I feel that the Wichita Online article should be left in order for the world to know what the US government is doing to bring broadband to under served areas of the country. Thank you very much for helping keep wikipedia clean, but I feel that deleting this article would be a mistake. Again Thanks, and I hope you would reconsider. Thanks for your note. I can appreciate that you think your company is notable, but I don't believe it meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines (found here). Even if I did un-delete the article, there are thousands of editors and hundreds of other administrators who enthusiastically patrol Wikipedia's new pages, looking for material that doesn't meet its standards, and your article would be challenged and deleted within hours, I think. If after re-reading the notability guidelines you really do think that your company deserves an article, you might list the topic at Wikipedia:Requested articles and see if someone else agrees with you; if they do, the article will be created and will have a "champion" from the beginning. Alternatively, you can create the article again, using every single citation from a newspaper or magazine that applies, and see if you can convince a large number of editors/administrators that you have demonstrated sufficient notability. (I don't recommend this path, because I don't feel it will work for you, but you can try it; be warned that if you keep recreating the article, you run the risk of being blocked for vandalism and/or other consequences.) And finally, you can try the process at Wikipedia:Deletion review -- here you can plead your case for your article and editors/administrators will consider its merits and give you a final decision. (And that decision really will be final -- no further appeals, no further chances.) If you really believe that the world needs to know about this, you might also consider outlets outside of Wikipedia. I hope this information helps you; if you need further clarification, leave a note on my talk page. Accounting4Taste:talk 15:53, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
