Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added to the page Prospect Park Zoo do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.

Also removed external links inserted into:

In particular, I regarded these links as of a type normally to be avoided as described in point 13 of the External links guideline: The home page of the Heart of Brooklyn web site does not directly furnish infomation about the zoo, children's museum, park, the botanic garden or Brooklyn museum. It does not give the reader of the encyclopedia's article any further information relating to the encyclopedia's topic itself. That these organizations are partners in the Heart of Brooklyn organization is of a too indirect relationship to be obvious to the article's reader. Upon dropping onto your home page, readers will be left wondering where there is more information about the zoo, the garden, museum or park. Their confusion damages the utility of the encyclopedia. In contrast, consider the four accepted external links of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden article: all furnish maps, photographs, or further specific information about the garden. A reader of this article does not have to guess about the utility of the external link after following it.

As an alternative to adding links that do not directly concern these articles, you may consider initiating an article about your organization. True, that would entail some investment of time on your part, and, among the thousands of Wikipedia editors, there are those who might challenge the article's notability, but if your organization is noteworthy enough to survive an articles proposed for deletion discussion, then you have a place in the encyclopedia. Furthermore, if you are industrious enough to write how your organization relates to the various articles where you had put your link, you'd be justified in cross linking your article to other topics under their respective See also headers.

I see you started the article! Congratulations. I took the liberty of "wikifying" it — basic categorization, linking article text to related topics and cross-referencing to other articles. I'm sure you would have done all this eventually, but I saw another editor tagged it for cleanup, and I happened to be in the neighborhood. Take care — Gosgood 12:19, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
