Orphaned non-free media (Image:Crest 3.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Crest 3.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:17, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I deliberately replaced it with Image:Audenshaw school logo.svg and tagged it for deletion, because yes, it is orphaned and needs to go.--bjwebb (talk) 21:21, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Invitation to join WikiProject Genealogy edit

I am extending this invitation to you because you identified yourself to me some time ago as a Wikipedian that is involved in genealogy. WikiProject Genealogy seems to have ground to a halt, and I'm hoping to either "reboot" it or, if interest is lacking, eliminate it. If you are so inclined, please visit "This project's purpose" topic in WikiProject Genealogy Talk at your earliest convenience and respond to my comment. (You might have to scroll down a bit; my comment is mostly boldfaced.) If you are not willing or able to participate, please notify me of such in email, and I won't disturb you further about this matter. Thank you. -JohnAlbertRigali (talk) 07:45, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Articles for deletion nomination of Chronology of the Doctor Who universe edit

I have nominated Chronology of the Doctor Who universe, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chronology of the Doctor Who universe. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Sceptre (talk) 20:58, 1 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:England satellite image.png edit

A tag has been placed on File:England satellite image.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File:England satellite image.png listed for deletion edit

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:England satellite image.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. The article Automatic Backup, Archive and Recovery Software has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No citations, links are all redlinks, only external link to the site of the technology maker.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. occono (talk) 19:36, 17 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of IBM Aggregate Backup and Recovery System edit

The article IBM Aggregate Backup and Recovery System has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (software) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
