Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!   Hello, I'm Dougweller. I noticed that you recently removed some content from List of Shudra Hindu saints without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. We base our articles on what sources say about a subject, not personal knowledge. If these sources meet WP:RS then you will need to find sources that disagree with them and both points of view can be shown. Dougweller (talk) 08:19, 2 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

You seem to think I created that page. I didn't. I didn't add the material that was deleted. I simply replaced it because it was sourced, and to repeat myself, we follow what the sources say, not what editors think is true. Dougweller (talk) 15:49, 2 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Use of edit summaries

edit

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! North America1000 08:14, 24 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Vanamonde93. I noticed that you recently removed content from Nathuram Godse without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks.   Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Lalitaditya Muktapida, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. utcursch | talk 18:31, 7 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
