March 2021 edit

  Please do not add or change content, as you did at Dire Straits, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. -Fnlayson (talk) 15:18, 8 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Alan Clark edit

For several months, you've been editing Dire Straits to emphasize Alan Clark. Your edits have all been reverted by other editors. Please start a discussion on Talk:Dire Straits and get consensus for your changes. Schazjmd (talk) 15:46, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Any changes made rectified previous untruths: Keyboards played by Alan Clark on Brothers in Arms: (Piano, Yamaha GS1, Prophet5, Yamaha DX7, Yamaha DX1, Emulator, various Roland synths, accordion). Jack Sonni was not a longstanding friend of the band: he met Mark in 1980, they both lived in New York and before Monsterrat, Jack had only briefly met the rest of the band. Thus he was Mark's relatively new friend.

There have been no attempts to emphasise Alan Clark, only to establish truth. Besides Mark Knopfler, Alan is widely regarded - and this includes by the band and crew - as the band's biggest musical influence, yet until Billy Botto began to establish the truth, Alan was barely mentioned. On the Dire Straits page, his piano work on Love over Gold, which any fool can hear is a major part of that record, was for years briefly described as "experimental", and Alan was hardly mentioned until Billy Botto pointed this out. When Billy Botto mentioned Alan's solo album on that page, it was removed with a comment about how it was inappropriate and should be on his page, yet for years there had been mentions of John Illsley's solo records and several of Mark's on the Dire Straits page.

Let's get the facts right please.

October 2021 edit

  You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Brothers in Arms (album). This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Binksternet (talk) 11:44, 27 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
