August 2008 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Duke of Albany, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Troikoalogo (talk) 20:24, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Note edit

I suggest you read our section on original research; this will help explain why a) your edits have all been removed, and b) you have been blocked from further editing. DS (talk) 23:40, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

first of all I can provide published proof of the edits I have made so that they fall in line with your proper requirements, You can view my published works here at www.jakelaughton.com and you can see an excel diagram that shows all the family relationships that I speak of in the articles I have attempted to edit at www.jakelaughton.com/Layton_Family.htm Secondly I find that my ip is blocked because my ISP is Comcast which does use shared IPs what you call collateral damage Thanks John Layton

Decline reason:

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I don't know much about the topic or your credentials, but citing your own site doesn't sound any better than our just trusting your edits with no cite at all. In general, WP:SELFPUB is not a reliable source. DMacks (talk) 05:20, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
OTOH, if you have published reputable scholarly research on this topic, those would be okay to my eye; similarly, the published sources you used to do your familial analysis would possibly be usable, again assuming they are published somewhere reputable in the field. See WP:RS for more information about acceptable sources. DMacks (talk) 05:23, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
I looked at your web site, but it was unhelpful, since it doesn't cite the relevant sources, either. In order to continue editing, you'll need to demonstrate that you understand how to cite a source and are going to do so in future edits. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 11:49, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
FWIW, I think you can be unblocked if you agree to try to learn and abide by Wikipedia policies on reliable sources and original research. Mangojuicetalk 15:40, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
