import access edit

I was looking around the user access levels and saw you were the only one listed with "import" access. I've been around here a couple years and never heard of it. There's no page on it so I figured I'd ask you what its about and if its still used. Mbisanz (talk) 03:40, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Blacklisted edit

Dear sir Cary Bastique, I'd want to thank you, but for the lack of support from the Foundation, so that it would be possible to get on hunting at me personally who is blacklisted on many projects by Dutch user:MoiraMoira, user:Erik Baas, user talk: Wammes Waggel and user:Oscar 'shutting' me up definitively ... Neither speaking about renewal of my remembrance nor even being a 2nd generation war-victim by this persucution .., never again. Fortunately, mrs. user:Sue Gardner responded to my remarks. I'm still keeping much obliged being respectfully yours D.A.Borgdorff 86.83.155.44 (talk) 16:07, 18 July 2008 (UTC) See also into meta.wikipedia e.g.: < 16:11, 8 July 2008 Thogo (Talk | contribs) blocked 86.83.155.44 (Talk) with an expiry time of 1 year (anonymous users only, account creation disabled) > Reply

use of audio files edit

Dear Mr. Bastique, I'd like to download some audio files and put them in a powerpoint for a presentation I will be giving to college students in Taiwan who are learning about Western culture and music as part of an English summer camp. Can I have permission to download these files? For example, I'd like to download Vivaldi's Four Seasons Spring movement - Allegro and Bach's Toccata in Fugue. Also, I need to download a sample of jazz, blues, country, rap, ragtime, swing, rock and roll, bluegrass, Hawaiian, and gospel. I am sure I can find these in wikipedia, but I don't think I can download any of them. Thank you. Vicky —Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.31.128.140 (talk) 19:32, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Taiwanese Civil War page on Nationmaster edit

Although the hoax page on the "Taiwanese Civil War" was deleted from Wikipedia in September 2007, its derivative page on Nationmaster has *not* been deleted. How does one go about removing a page on Nationmaster rather than updating it? See http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Taiwanese-Civil-War Joel (talk) 20:35, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

You have to contact the host providers to that website. Wikimedia has nothing to do with them. Bastique demandez 05:35, 31 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I have contacted them, and so has the author of the book that was badly misinterpreted to create the hoax, but they haven't responded at all, so I thought I'd ask at the source one of their major suppliers of content. Joel (talk) 17:48, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Iberian-Guanche Inscriptions edit

Dear Cary, I cannot see a trace of this peace of important and well documented information. I would like you please look into this article. One administrator who has a conflict of interests with the page or with us (he does not want to recognize Iberian language outside Iberia, like in this case in the Canary Islands) has pushed too hard to remove a page UNDER FALSE CLAIMS. He has quoting one reference which does not correspond to "Iberian-Guianche Inscriptions".On these bases and some subjective comments against one author involved in the inscriptions discovery:Antonio Arnaiz-Villena he (Trigaranus) has managed to remove the page even nagging other administrators to do it (this could be read yesterday). Antonio Arnaiz-Villena is a scientist who was subjected time before to a merciless witch -hunting ,because he wrote a paper about Palestinians showing the close genetics to Jewish. This paper was removed without precedent from all databases and the USA journal which published it recommended destroying paper pages. You have this history in our Wikipedia.

In any case,I have restored the paper with some additions and a different title (also one of the main objections),. Now,it is entitled "Iberian-Canarian Inscriptions"

Could you take notice of this and direct me what else to do or take the article to a superior bsdy with Wikipedia staff?

I expect your news. Thank you for your help. Best regards --Iberomesornix (talk) 16:54, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

HELP edit

Bastique,

I must admit that I'm beginning to feel not so very smart because Wikipedia is just maze after maze when I try to find an answer to a question. A link goes to a link and to another link. One begins to feel hopeless.

I working on a page for "American Innovators for Patent Reform"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Innovators_for_Patent_Reform

After the initial post comments were left to improve the page which I appreciated and found useful.

I took steps to make all those changes, including rewriting to encyclopedia style, creating internal Wikipedia links and notating external sources. And yet the comments have not been updated.

How do I get someone to look at it see the update and remove the negative comments?

I have worked very hard to follow the guidelines as set up but no one seems to monitoring the changes I have made.

I went to my talk page but these are very old comments about another and different page.

I am sorry to trouble you about this (you look friendly in your photo) but I am at wits end trying to use the contact sources as I get lost and lost, etc. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bro1041 (talkcontribs) 17:24, 3 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

BBC Introducing edit

Hi, I'm really new here, but there is a big dispute going on at the BBC Introducing article going on for some time - I have been involved in minor edits, but think this one won't be resolved unless a third party with advanced wiki knowledge. I appreciate if your busy elsewhere however. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.151.138.251 (talk) 23:43, 21 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

I only want to point out an error I noticed when referring to a page.

Go to 'Elvis Presley'. The first Album listed is the self-titled "Elvis Presley". Click/select that Album. Go down to the Cover section.

Listed is "The Clash - Londin Calling".

????

That's it. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.96.145.158 (talk) 17:36, 25 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Population of Brazil edit

--75.83.27.31 (talk) 06:40, 5 April 2011 (UTC)Hello,Reply

My daughter is doing a report on the country of Brazil, and I noticed the populations listed under major cities in Brazil are significantly lower than those from other wesites, for example the CIA website. You may want to double check what is written in the current Wikipedia site on Brazil.

Shroud of Turin edit

Hi Bastique, there doesnt seem any way to edit/add a Biblical reference to the Shroud of Turin page.

THE problem with the shroud of Turin is the Book of John; 19:40 KJV which says Jesus body was wrapped with many strips of cloth (check the Greek!!) glued together with 100 pounds of Myrrh and Aloes (like an Egyptian mummy). John 20:7 says the head was wrapped with a separate handkercheif......... This concluseively shows that there was NO Shroud............ Very often only one gospel tells the Whole story........ Greenspun illustration project edit

Hey there. I have been vectorising images in WP:GL/I for 2-3 months. I am interested in the project since it allows people to create original art(I have done one before). I would like to take some of the illustration requests from the first round of the project. Is it possible to take requests now? Specifically, I would like to make an illustration of the Davisson-Germer experiment(Hope it is not taken already since the request list didnot contain any illustrations). What steps should I take for this? Roshan220195 (talk) 21:26, 26 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
