Pronounce "Garand" edit

If I remember correctly, Hatcher stated this in his work, "Book of the Garand." I do not own a copy of this, but I did verify the accuracy of this a few months back as background for a forum question on this same subject. It's near the beginning of the book, but I don't have the time to search out the information right now.--Asams10 06:24, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

My father said that he wasn't going to pronounce it like Garand wanted either. He's a Korea vet. Said he used the gun, and they called it the gur-AND, and that's the way it's going to stay. I've made an effort to use the correct pronunciation, but I too grew up saying it the common way.--Asams10 15:36, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your GA is under review edit

Hi there, I see that you are a primary contributor to the article M1 Garand rifle. This article has come under review for Good article reassessment as part of GA Sweeps and a number of problems have been identified which are listed on the talk page. Please begin to address these points in the next seven days or the article will be delisted from GA and will have to go through the GAN process all over again to regain its status once improvements have been made. If you have any questions, please drop me a line.--Jackyd101 (talk) 23:47, 7 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
