Viking Expansion: Discovery/Colonization of Greenland

edit

In the year 982, Erik the Red is believed to have discovered Greenland after being exiled from Iceland for murder. Three years later in 985, Erik the Red returned with 14 ships. Two settlements known as Qassiarsuk and Nuuk were started toward the south of Greenland.

Leif Ericson

edit

I'm sorry, but I have reverted your edits to Leif Ericson. Although it may be true that Ericson's great great great grandfather's brother discovered Iceland, unless if you can show that this effected Ericson or historians view that it's important, then it's just some mildly interesting trivia. I just noticed this link that you posted on your talk page. It might be a better source (like I said, if historians view it's important or significant). Feel free to undo my revert with the better sourcing. FallingGravity (talk) 03:31, 26 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

FallingGravity, I'm a little confused as this is one of my first edits. The link in my talk page, which you stated was better (I think?), was also in the edit as a citation. Thanks, BSoren17 (talk) 18:18, 26 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Also, if you don't think that information fits there. Would it be alright to add a trivia section including this information? I thought it proved important as Leif Erikson had a family history of discovering countries. BSoren17 (talk) 19:09, 26 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm also a little confused as the reference you added was to this Google Book which from a search of "Naddodd" doesn't show any connection to Leif Ericson. That was the main reason I reverted the addition. I think the best way to add the information is in terms like "Leif Ericson's distant relative Naddodd discovered Iceland" or something like that. Keep in mind that this is a WP:Good Article, so any additions should meet those standards. FallingGravity (talk) 19:51, 26 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Oh thank you so much! I must've accidentally added the wrong link. I meant to add the one you suggested was better, and that's why I was confused. Thank you for the advice! BSoren17 (talk) 20:19, 26 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
