Dyke/Dike

edit

Both of these spellings are commonly used for small discordant intrusions. 'Dike' is used in the USA, while 'dyke' is used in most of the rest of the english-speaking world. Try googling on 'dike geology' versus 'dyke geology' and you'll see what I mean. The rule is normally that whoever originally starts an article, sets the spelling. In the case of Rhyolite, the original spelling was 'dike', so your edit was correct (it got changed about a year ago). I'm just telling you this so that you don't change all 'dykes' to 'dikes' in geology articles, such as Sheeted dyke complex (note the link to Dike swarm in the See also section, as that's how that one started out). It may not seem very consistent but both 'dike' and 'dyke' refer back to the same dab page and 'dyke (geology)' redirects to 'dike (geology)' so it really isn't a problem IMHO. Proposed deletion of The Rise & Rule of Ancient Empires

edit

The article The Rise & Rule of Ancient Empires has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no evidence of notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 03:23, 2 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm going to fix up this article for you; never fear! I hope this hasn't rather soured your experience of WP. Feel free to poke me with any questions or issues if you want to keep contributing; my door is always open. Ironholds (talk) 11:50, 2 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
