Thanks!

Thanks much for answering my question about Userboxes! And thanks especially for not berating me for being a dorky newbie.  ;) Estreya 15:24, 15 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome, and thanks to you for the idea of putting the userboxes in a table. thejabberwock 19:46, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Saw your legalization of cannabis userbox

This user is pro-cannabis, and opposes the prejudice and oppression suffered by cannabis users.

Wanted to show you a new one I created, which when used from a user page without the stamp argument, adds your userpage to Category:Pro-cannabis Wikipedians. It takes a slightly different and complimentary angle. I'm proud of the fact that the first user to place it (after me) was also drug-free.

The design is certainly better, but I like the old message more. The new one is too whiny for me. Thanks. TheJabberwock 00:11, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why? reply...

Ah... Thank you for not being hostile in your message to me. On Wikipedia we are all working on a common goal, so it's important that we can work together even when we disagree. We need to communicate to help bring people together, but when people post rants they drive people apart rather than bring people together. I had assumed you were aware of this, but choose to disregard it in an effort to further your vision that is something other than a free encyclopedia with the knowledge of the world built by people working together. I apologize for making that assumption. In the future, however, could you try to avoid posting broadcast theses on how you disagree with people? I understand why it hurt to see the userpage changed, because I understand how it hurts to see our encyclopedia project messed up by people who are furthering argument rather than cooperation. If you have a disagreement thats worth discussing, take it up one-on-one, don't try to enlist the world. Wiki isn't about free speech, it's about cooperation. Open access means anyone can help, not that anyone can do whatever you want. If you are going to be hurt by people making changes to your userpage, you should put it someplace other than wikipedia and link to it, then you set the rules. I hope none of this makes you less interested in continuing your work here. I'm sorry for upsetting you. --Gmaxwell 03:24, 25 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: your comments to docGlasgow

I'm going to honor doc's decision to close the thread, and post my comments directly to you. These stupid userboxes annoy me a great deal, but I'm too committed to improving Wikipedia to be alienated by them. -- Donald Albury(Talk) 13:00, 27 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Divisive userboxes

There aren't any such thing. This whole thing is in the mind of a select few Administrators. If you believe in Libertarianism, would it be too much trouble to ask you to support the undeletion of "anti-" userboxes? Thanks! --Dragon695 00:52, 30 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hola

It's unpronouncable to hu-mans. =) (`Zay-os-`flux) is pretty close though. I don't really think I'm taking sides, because I don't think it's about sides. I would LOVE to see a workable Userbox Policy, Category Policy, etc; but withstanding one I'm against doing things that will make editors be annoyed and leave the project; and even more so in wasting peoples time. Admins should represent the community, not dictate it. — xaosflux Talk 02:39, 11 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Template:User bemused

As you asked to see the template which doc glasgow deemed "trolling", I thought I'd let you know that it can still be seen on my user page (scroll down to the bottom). Thanks. --Chips Critic 16:10, 10 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Glad to be of help. I just have one (probably silly) question: what does "DRV/U" stand for? I should know that abbreviation, but I can't seem to work it out. --Chips Critic 17:06, 11 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Userbox debates

Userbox Wars

I just got sucked into this war because one of the userboxes I created was put up for deletion. I saw your userboxes on userboxes and agree with them whole-heartedly. Do you mind if I steal that bit of code and stick it on my userpage? Thanks. -EdGl 02:25, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Userboxes

I have solved a problem to Userboxes being deleted by admins. I have created an account User:Userboxuser, so now any userboxes that have been deleted can be moved to User:Userboxuser's userspace. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, --GeorgeMoney T·C 04:15, 16 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey

Looks like you're back! Are you still on semi-Wikibreak, or is that notice out of date? Also, if you left because of disgust at the userbox deletions (or not), don't you think WP:MACK and related are great? So much better than the endless debates at WP:DRVU! Anyway, happy editing, and I'll see you around. TheJabberwʘck 04:28, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm still on partial wikibreak as I'm undecided if I will stay. I really don't care about userboxes. I don't really understand why either side has such strong feelings about them. I just wish the whole thing would go away--so in that sense I support MACK.
My wikibreak really isn't related to userboxes at all. It has to do with how wikipedia is run: the bureaucracy, the rouge admins, those that introduce bias intentionally, etc. The userbox issue is just one of many that shows how wikipedia is broken. Kotepho 04:44, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Replied on talk page. TheJabberwʘck 17:36, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Userboxes (yet another proposal)

Seeing how you opposed the first question on Mackensen's Poll (arguably the most important), I would like to show you my essay on what should be done with userboxes. It is hopefully a new and unseen way of resolving this conflict.

Thanks,

Back with vengeance

Hi Audacity, thanks for your message on my talkpage. It cheered me up alot. I have come back to Wikipedia because I feel this userbox debacle cannot go on like this. Time to contribute - and show SOME admins that they can't use WP:IAR as an excuse to do whatever they want. Chances are I'll burn out within weeks, but its a good cause, and what do I have to got to lose? CharonX 11:22, 26 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Userboxen?

Hi, there. I stumbled across your page somewhere along my rovings, and I was wondering...is anything being done about the rampant userbox deletion? I know the turmoil is kind of dying down now and some formerly deleted boxes are back, but I'm still missing no less than four religion-themed boxes and a couple of miscellaneous others. Whatever happened? I can't find any information on what's going on with the whole thing, other than there's about four novels' worth of talk on the Talk:Userboxes page about template vs. non-template boxes (which, honestly, I never understood the importance of in the first place). Did anything ever come to a conclusion? I feel so out of the loop... Cathryn 14:23, 17 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okie dokie. Thanks for the update! Too bad everything had to dissolve into such a shouting match. Appreciate the heads-up. Cathryn 17:15, 17 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

re:Nolan chart userbox

What would you think of making a userbox similar to User:The Thadman/Userbox/PolCompass, but for the World's Smallest Political Quiz? Λυδαcιτγ 01:55, 24 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

The formulae for the results would be a bit trickier, but I think it would be very doable. If I had the time nowadays, I'd mess around with it, but as of late I've been strapped. :-( Feel free to try messing around with my Political Compass template code toward this end, though. אמר Steve Caruso (desk/AMA) 18:09, 24 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
