Morgoth vs Melkor edit

Please discuss the changes on the talk page. The article was carefully written to preserve the way Tolkien treats Melkor. -- Elphion (talk) 12:01, 15 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Do not edit other people's comments on talk pages edit

Hi -- You're evidently a new editor, and I know it takes a while to learn the ropes. Here are a few things you should avoid:

  • Editing other people's comments unless necessary to avoid formatting problems.
  • Changing the wording of direct quotes, unless required to avoid serious misunderstanding (and such edits must be clearly marked).
  • Adding insignificant plot details. Plot description must be kept short and sweet.
  • Tagging your edits as minor unless they really are minor (typically items of spelling, punctuation, word order, etc. -- surface changes, not content.

How can I post on a Talk Page? One of my editings was specifically to do that. Ari (talk) 05:15, 20 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
You have already done this. You just switch to the "Talk" tab and post there. You can add to an existing section (as you have already done), or start a new section by clicking on the "New Section" tab. (The tabs are all at the top of the page.) You should try to separate your comments from the previous comments by leaving a blank line before your comment, or by using a number of colons (:) before your remarks to indent them (as I did for this comment). Also remember to sign your comments by putting four tildes at the end, like this: ~~~~ When you save the comment the four tildes will automatically be converted into your signature. -- Elphion (talk) 18:14, 18 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
Now let's talk about repeating your edits. When you edit a page and someone reverts the edit, DO NOT just repeat your edits. Start a discussion on the talk page instead. Repeating your edits after being reverted is definitely frowned upon here and if you continue to do it, you will likely be blocked from editing for a period of time. It is particularly bad in this case because you give no reason for insisting on the version you are pushing instead of the previous version. Added: Actually I see this time you are including more reasons in the edit comments, but it would be better to put your explanations on the talk page so they can be discussed there before consensus edits are made. -- Elphion (talk) 18:21, 18 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much - I will not be repeating in the future. Ari (talk) 05:18, 20 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Precipitate edit

"Precipitate" means only that that was the triggering act that started the process in motion. It doesn't imply that it was the only cause. -- Elphion (talk) 14:43, 22 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I know now. The invasion was only the starting point for Aslan's calling of old Narnia into his country and the one true Narnia at the world's end. Ari (talk) 07:08, 23 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Annnouncing RRTF's first Edit-A-Thon! In honor of his July 9 birthday, RRTF will be hosting an editing event focused on author/illustrator John Rocco. The event will last until the first day of August, when the most helpful contributor will be featured on RRTF's forums. More information can be found here on the talk page, where you may also post questions and comments (as always). Please consider helping out! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 03:44, 3 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Block evasion edit

You were given clear instructions as to how to possibly regain the trust of the community. Each time you evade your block the 6-month clock is reset.--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 19:28, 5 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
