Request reason:

Apologies, my counter-vandalism work was clearly sub-par!

Accept reason:

Unblocked; proximate cause of block mitigated through the pledge to avoid automated editing for now. Kuru (talk) 03:10, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

You have not explained what is going on?
And what is your relationship to other accounts? Specifically this one[1] which is editing similarly. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 02:33, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
I'm attempting to combat vandalism found via monitoring the recent changes log. Artemius MacRae (talk) 02:35, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
I was writing a bot and used the EAC tester account to satisfy myself that it was working as desired. Clearly I was wrong! Artemius MacRae (talk) 02:37, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
How many accounts are you using to test this bot? Also are some of the IPs yours? By the way you need approval before you can run a bot. Please see WP:BAG. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 02:40, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Which IPs are you referring to? I have only edited from these two accounts. Artemius MacRae (talk) 02:41, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
I was concerned about the most recent ones here[2]
But it appears that you are simple running an unapproved bot. Have you editing Wikipedia before with other accounts? If you are brand new to WP would be good to get some experience before you begin automated bot work. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 02:44, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Nothing to do with those IPs - and yes I am more or less brand new to WP (although not to wiki software). Wasn't aware I needed approval to run a bot. Artemius MacRae (talk) 02:45, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yes as bots can create a lot of problems fast.
Also on WP you are typically only allowed one account.
If you get approval to run a bot, a bot account is allowed but needs to have a special name with bot in the title.
What language are you writing in? And when it comes to bots do you have specific areas of interest?
We have User:ClueBot NG that takes care of much vandalism here. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 02:49, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Happy to unblock, but I'd need assurances that you're going to avoid using bots or automated scripts until you get the proper approvals. This is exactly the kind of "testing in production" problem that can pop up when you don't. Kuru (talk) 02:48, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Absolutely. Apologies for not having approval, and for the failure of my algorithm (and my bot going out of control!) Artemius MacRae (talk) 02:51, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Welcome!

Welcome messages

edit

Hello, I have noticed that your account is only a few days old but that you are adding welcome messages to other editors' pages. In some cases, you have added multiple welcome sections. Please clarify what you are doing and consider whether as a new editor yourself, you should be welcoming users to the encyclopedia. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 14:46, 17 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Artemius MacRae, it does appear that you are again using some method of automated editing, and it is again malfunctioning. Please clarify before your next edit. Kuru (talk) 14:57, 17 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
