October 2015: Women in Architecture editathon(s) with Guggenheim, Toronto edition?

It's been great to see the Art+Feminism and other editathons that you've been helping to organize in Toronto! I wonder if you and local organizers might be interested in joining as partners for the Guggenheim's October 2015 campaign for Wikipedia:Meetup/Women in Architecture, for a topic that combines both the arts and STEM. See also our NYC event.--Pharos (talk) 21:15, 26 August 2015 (UTC)

Pharos I will see what I can do -- am trying to enlist a local architecture library to host.Artchivist1 (talk) 15:49, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
Wonderful, let me know if we can help at all from the Guggenheim end.--Pharos (talk) 16:43, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
Any luck with the architectural library in Toronto? Btw, we're also developing this as Wikipedia:Meetup/Women in Red/3!--Pharos (talk) 13:36, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
Yes, Ryerson University has expressed interest and I'm in touch with the student group at their architecture faculty. Hoping we can put something together soon.-- Artchivist1 (talk) 13:52, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
Great, would be glad to put everyone there in touch with the Guggenheim folks by email or whatnot. Also, it would be good to have some preliminary place/time ideas at Wikipedia:Meetup/Women in Architecture#October 2015 Nodes.--Pharos (talk) 15:01, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

  • Hi Artchivist1, I was just chatting with Nikki and she told me about your edithon today. I am an experienced editor and a new Wikipedia Library volunteer and would eventually like to host an edithon. I was wondering if you are accepting editors who cannot be physically present at the AGO from 5:00-8:00 pm. I'm on mountain time. I am particularly interested in creating the Joanne Tod article. ArtAndFeminism September 16, 2015 Oceanflynn (talk) 18:34, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
User:Oceanflynn, you are most welcome to join us virtually of course! And please do work on Joanne Tod. We are expecting kind of a crowd and I'm going to be actively teaching, so I'm not sure we can make your virtual participation more meaningful/fun, but we'd love to have your contributions logged on the meetup page. If you want to chat at some point about hosting, I'd be more than happy.Artchivist1 (talk) 19:14, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
Also, we have been using   In progress on the topic list to indicate when a particular topic is being worked on, though I'm not sure that's the correct use of the template, but you may want to do that for Joanne Tod so no one duplicates your efforts. Thanks! Artchivist1 (talk) 19:16, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi Artchivist1. Congratulations on your first article. You have really done a great job on Greta Dale. The article is well resourced and makes for interesting reading. I see you are also involved in the Toronto editathon on Women in Architecture. As you probably know, Wikipedia:Women in Red is also running a virtual editathon from 15 to 25 October. Maybe you would also like to participate by creating an article on a female Canadian architect? In any case, I look forward to reading your future contributions.--Ipigott (talk) 06:28, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the kind words, Ipigott, but I have to admit the credit for that article is due to an offline collaborator and my main contribution is the coding! Will do my best to contribute to the Women in Red initiative. Artchivist1 (talk) 13:48, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
Good to hear you're supporting the cause. Encourage your collaborator to join in too.--Ipigott (talk) 13:50, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
