Welcome edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. To find out how to make useful contributions, take a look at the welcome page. To stay in Wikipedia, an article has to be about something notable, that is, of general interest. Click on Notability for an explanation of what that means. Also, it must give independently verifiable sources. Articles that don't meet these requirements are likely to be deleted.   There was already an article Deir el-Bahri. I have redirected the page you created to point to it. JohnCD (talk) 18:57, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dier el Bahri (disambiguation) edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Dier el Bahri (disambiguation), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Dier el Bahri (disambiguation) is pure vandalism; this includes redirects created during cleanup of page move vandalism.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Dier el Bahri (disambiguation), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself.   Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Neopets. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 19:03, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

re: Sorry edit

That's OK, it's confusing for a newcomer; the good news is that it's hard to do any real harm, because your mistakes will get spotted and corrected. Every edit leaves a permanent record though: you say you didn't make the Disambiguation page, but the record (on the "History" tab) shows it was made from your account - be careful who gets at your computer while you are logged in!

Follow the links on the Welcome paragraph above for good general advice. When you think of a new article, it's always worth doing a fairly thorough check to make sure there isn't one already - Wikipedia has been going long enough that most of the major subjects have articles.

One last piece of advice: when you leave a message on a talk page, it's usual to sign it by putting four tilde characters ~~~~ at the end. The system turns them into a signature with your user name and the date and time - like this: JohnCD (talk) 19:24, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
