Speedy deletion nomination of Dr. Ghulam Hussain

edit

A tag has been placed on Dr. Ghulam Hussain requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 20:53, 23 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ghulam Hussain (physician)

edit

Hi. I've restored the page at Ghulam Hussain (physician) - per our usual naming conventions we don't refer to people by academic or medical titles in the names of articles. See for instance the members of Category:Pakistani medical doctors or Category:English medical doctors; where two people with the same name exist, "(physician)" is the usual way of disambiguating.

If you disagree then I'm happy to discuss it with you, but please don't make the change again since the way one article was copy-pasted into the other creates copyright problems: if we do end up swapping the titles I will simply move one article over the other, which is the approved way to make a title change. Cheers, Olaf Davis (talk) 13:16, 31 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Alright Olaf, the reason for the change is he is mainly known as Dr. Ghulam Hussain in Pakistan because there are many Ghulam Hussain's but I do understand your naming convention and if it is required we will respect them. Could you perhaps change the article name from Ghulam Hussain (physician) to Ghulam Hussain (politician) because while he is a educated doctor with MBA he has mostly worked as a politician and is known for his work in politics and philanthropy. Or maybe Ghulam Hussain (politician and physician).--Anwqel112 (talk) 20:46, 24 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

That makes good sense to me, Anwqwl112; I've renamed the page. And thanks for being understanding of Wikipedia's naming conventions. Best wishes, Olaf Davis (talk) 11:58, 2 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
