Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "ORSP University of Denver", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. I can change your name if you just say to what. 331dot (talk) 18:41, 27 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for that info. I apologize, I'm new to all of this! If you wouldn't mind helping me change my name to Anne.Westbrook, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks! ORSP University of Denver (talk) 15:22, 28 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
It will probably be a bit before I can do it, it may happen sooner if you request a change as instructed below. 331dot (talk) 15:24, 28 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Could you also help me unblock my account so I can list my conflict of interest on my user page? ORSP University of Denver (talk) 16:07, 28 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, ORSP University of Denver. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 18:45, 27 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello Theroadislong, Thanks for that info! I am a current employee of the University of Denver, but my purposes for creating this page is not for my own gain in any way. I will not receive any benefit from its creation.
Dr. Sarama is a notable professor who is quite influential within the realm of Early Math Education for children of all income levels globally. Her work has been translated into many languages around the world and has also had great impact on the educational research done on a National level for the United States.
I actually only published this yesterday to be sure my work was saved. In no way is this ready for publication outside of Sandbox. I am happy to thoroughly edit the page to be sure it is simply stating the facts of her work and moving all links to the bottom of the page as appropriate.
Please let me know if there's something else I should do on this front. Thanks! ORSP University of Denver (talk) 15:31, 28 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
As a current employee of the University of Denver, you have a clear conflict of interest and you will need to disclose this on your user page. Julie Sarama is WP:GNG notable as a named chair, but you will have to ensure that the draft is well sourced to independent reliable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 15:34, 28 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Theroadislong. I will be happy to post my conflict of interest on my user page once I am unblocked. I am not trying to hide anything, as you can tell by my original username (which I have already requested to be altered).
I'm not sure if you can assist with unblocking me so I may edit and do so, but if you can, I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks! ORSP University of Denver (talk) 15:44, 28 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, club, organization, company, or website, I have blocked this account from editing. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization, person or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest. You may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change of your current account here. The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username on this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken or in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

Thank you, Orange Mike. I appreciate the information you provided here. I have requested a name change to Anne.Westbrook through both the Name Change page as well as in reply to 311dot who also mentioned the conflict. ORSP University of Denver (talk) 15:33, 28 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Orangemike,
Thanks for pointing out those items for me. I have changed my user name and would like to go ahead and continue editing with this account. Would you please unblock my account? I have used the coding twice to request an unblock, but it has not yet happened.
Once my account is unblocked, I would be more than happy to list the conflict of interest as well as to continue editing my post to be sure that it is notable and informative. Please let me know how to proceed and if you are able/willing to help.
Thank you Anne.Westbrook (talk) 17:48, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
