October 2022 edit

Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Dice (Nmixx song), did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. You have made a mistake, you are persisting in restoring incorrect information to the page which cites a poor quality source; please stop doing so. AnnaCruces (talk) 01:38, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, but I don't see why Tunebat would be unacceptable. It's pretty basic albeit technical information. Drmies (talk) 01:41, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
The data generated by sites like songbpm and tunebat about keys are not created manually by an expert, but run by an algorithm which listens to the music and guesses at the key, with a nontrivial failure rate. Note this discussion here on reddit where composers discuss the frequency with which such sites make mistakes: https://www.reddit.com/r/musictheory/comments/kasgtt/is_tunebat_wrong_or_am_i_wrong/
Note that songbpm claims that Dice is in C major, and tunebat lists it as G major. It is in neither C major nor G major; it is in G minor. That should be sufficient to demonstrate that such sites should not be cited, without a method of determining which one is correct, and an expert telling you that neither is correct. I did find sheet music online which has the correct key signature of two flats (i.e., G minor in this case), but these are self-published by fans and me merely knowing that they are correct is not sufficient for me to cite them. You are welcome to bring this up at WP:RSN, but for now, I'll note that your source for saying this source is unreliable/incorrect is reddit, which is also not a reliable source. You are welcome to present the arguments on reddit in that discussion, of course. I have no dog in this fight, and I don't care whether Tunebat is accepted or not; as an administrator I am concerned with following our guidelines. So, please, take it to RSN and you might be able to argue your case and get Tunebat completely demoted, who knows. There are a ton of citations on Wikipedia to that website. Drmies (talk) 02:25, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I will do that (edit: that is, bring up the issue at WP:RSN), but note that I am not interested in reddit; I am trying to help you understand why tunebat is not a good source. Yes, there are many citations to a poor quality site, but "we've always done it that way" is not an argument in favor of using a bad source. What interests me that you are glossing over is that various third party sites list different keys; what is your rationale for preferring one over the other? I am carefully not inserting my original research into the article, instead I am pointing out that various apparently equal quality sources make different claims, and that should be enough for the non-expert to realize that the article should not be making a claim about the key until the issue is resolved. AnnaCruces (talk) 02:33, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I don't understand what you are trying to do here, and I'm not sure which of the many strawmen I should deal with first. I didn't say "we've always done it that way". I don't need to understand why Tunebat is not a good source: you need to convince editors to come to a consensus to say it's not a good source. If you are not interested in reddit to help you make that argument, don't bring it up. I am not preferring one over another. The argument in the last sentence hinges on one important premise: that the sources are of apparent equal value. I have no idea if that's the case or not, so the realization of the second part is not mine--the whole argument is a non sequitur for me. Drmies (talk) 17:35, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi, thanks for your reply. I initially misunderstood what you were saying about reddit, I thought you were telling me to go discuss it on reddit, rather than your intended meaning of encouraging me to bring up the reddit discussion in the proper process of challenging tunebat as a valid source, so I apologize for that. I didn't understand why exactly you stated that many articles cite tunebat, but I'll be open-minded and assume that you were stating it in a neutral way, not intended as a strong argument for its continued use. As for what I'm trying to do here, it is to improve Wikipedia. AnnaCruces (talk) 18:21, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Loco (Itzy song), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 13:44, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I cited a more reliable source than the one that is being used for the incorrect info that you reverted it to. Please refrain from reverting my edits, and discuss on the talk page. AnnaCruces (talk) 14:09, 31 October 2022 (UTC) AnnaCruces (talk) 14:11, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hey, thanks. I didn't mean to make any edit to that page, I must have accidentally hit some random buttons on my phone after viewing it. AnnaCruces (talk) 18:17, 27 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
