Help me! edit

Please help me with...I started a new page yesterday and now when I click on the redlink nothing shows up. How do I find my edits and continue? Do I have to start over? I didn't hit 'publish' because I wasn't finished? Did I lose my draft?

  • Your edit history indicates no edits to such a page, deleted or otherwise; I don't think they were saved. Please understand that "Publish changes" is simply equivalent to "Save changes"; it does not mean "publish to the encyclopedia". This is confusing, but the button must say "publish changes" for legal reasons. I would suggest that you use Articles for Creation to submit a draft for consideration by an independent editor. You may also want to read Your First Article. 331dot (talk) 15:19, 3 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • (edit conflict) Angelacason26, if you didn't hit "publish", the edits have not been sent to the Wikipedia servers, and there is no way for us to recover them. The browser has likely displayed a warning and asked for confirmation ("unsaved changes") before closing the tab.
Labelling the button "Save" instead of "Publish" would not make clear enough that all pages on Wikipedia are publicly visible and editable, and that "saving" your changes irrevocably releases them under a license that allows anyone to use them for any purpose, even commercially, as long as attribution is given. For this reason, the button needs to be labelled "Publish".
